The hardest A Level subject?
Discussion for A-Level students and for those choosing their A-Level subjects.

Re: The hardest A Level subject?
I would definitely say music. It clearly depends on the person but I have studied physics, maths and music to A2 level and chemistry to AS and music is beyond insane. The amount of tedious information you have to memorise not to mention the analysis of entire symphonies and completing the compositions whilst following all the rules they set has literally driven me crazy! Also you have no idea what you have got until the summer and in some units even the best student could literally get anything.

Re: The hardest A Level subject?
depends on the individual, personally I find Maths hard but then I enjoy it which makes me to do it all the time, which makes it easy lol. I guess for me Biology is the most challenging.
in order for someone to answer your question, they must have done all the subjects, which is very unlikely! -
Re: The hardest A Level subject?
Chemistry is hard, and I'm actually finding the maths in Chemistry harder than A-level maths itself...
Like, if you're doing a question on moles, then you've got to decide which formula to use, and you'll more than likely use more than one, then you'll end up with loads of different measurements, and you'll probably end up mixing them up and get the completely wrong answer. Plus, if you make one little error then the every single calculation which follows in that question will end up being wrong. The formulas aren't hard - it's just all the information and values that you end up with which makes it hard. -.-
I mean at GCSE, at least you knew if you were on the right lines...
Also, A-level French makes GCSE look like a complete and utter joke. -.- -
Re: The hardest A Level subject? The maths side of moles aint too bad, at first it takes time to get used to, but once you get it, it's easy.(Original post by Deziah)

Send me a private message if you need help with the questions or if you want me to explain mole calculations, I've already done my A-level in chemistry, retaking unit 5 though to move my overall up to an A.Last edited by James A; 26-09-2012 at 20:40. -
Re: The hardest A Level subject?
out of the subjects I took....Chemistry everyone found hard- there is both a lot of stuff to learn, and some complex ideas. Biology was pretty easy, Maths varied a lot- some hard, some easy bits (more hard if you take further maths and go through it very fast), and German I found hard, but if you are a languages person, there is just a lot of vocab. My school didn't teach general studies and critical thinking, just entered us for the exam, on the grounds that you can either do them or you can't- I found them easy, but it varies a lot on whether you are a logical thinker, and do a lot of wider reading etc.
