Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :DThe exact words they said were 'the admissions assessment board meet mid march to rank applications and you'll hear sometime after that'.(Original post by cliodna)
My friend was interviewed on the Feb date and she was told that we will hear mid March at the earliest, it'll most likely be in the second half unfortunately
So by this statement, I assume they'll meet towards the end of next week with results released the week after?
Come on QUB!

Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
So, is there any order to the interviews in terms of, do graduates get interviewed in February and all school leavers in December? Or is it just random assignment of dates like first half of the top 500 first, then second half in Feb?
I'm going to be graduating next year, and so I will be entering into the 2013 cycle. Predicted 1st and have the A-levels, just need to do a good UKCAT this summer.
Does the personal statement even get used at all by QUB? Are there any other factors I should be thinking about for Queen's at this point? I am doing work experience and volunteering at the Red Cross also to cover my commitment side of things. Is there anything graduates need to watch out for? -
Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :DUCAS track should change first and then you should get a letter in the post a week or 2 later from Queens.(Original post by crash123)

Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
Had an interview here in December and seemed to think alot of the prospective students who lived outside Northern Ireland made up the largest proportion of people being interviewed (I'm ****e with words but I'm sure you can work out what I'm trying to say) So basically, I think feb interviews would have been for those staying in NI.

Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
Sooooo cruel.
Checked the post today - brown letter with Queens University Belfast on it. Sooo nervous opening it. Open it and take out about 20 pages from it. Open the first page:
Dear Ucas Applicant
I am pleased (
- them being pleased has to be a good thing) that your ucas application...Includes Human Biology (
)
Why do the universities torture me like this
-
Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :DThe Biomed/Human Biology open day, argh! The e-mail Queen's sent during the week and the massive brown letter this morning were so misleading haha I just wish they'd hurry.(Original post by Doctor2b)

Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
Ah well perhaps this week.
With regards to someone mentioning a panel sitting later this month to decide who gets offers and who doesnt - (mentioned by someone earlier) - are you sure your source was right? As far as im aware the offers are made only on interview performance i.e. all mmi station scores added up. This seems to me that there should be no panel as all they need to do is put the applicants in order of score on their interview sheet. With 500 applicants interviewed and interviews ending on the 22nd feb that means they could have been sorting out the offers pile for 10 days now so id say we have a good chance of having a letter from QUB in the post this week (as long as its not another invitation to the human biology open day
)
Assuming they have been ranking applicants for roughly 10 days now they should hopefully be working near the end now.
P.S. my assumptions could be way out and they mightnt start ranking applications until the 10th of march or some other absurd date so i could be wrong. BUT Im nearly sure that at my interview they said offers will be made late february/early march - some people on this thread say they were told that it would be later and some said they heard the exact same thing as me
Fingers crossed

Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
I really hope we'll hear something this week!
I thought that offers would only be based on our rank-order from the MMI and possibly from our personal statement/references too. But it's possible that there could be a panel meeting before offers are given out.
I don't remember a panel meeting being mentioned on our interview day, though. I think we were just told that we'd hear back at the end of February/ early March.
Whatever they are doing at the moment, I just hope that they are trying to assess everyone as fairly as possible. Hopefully, they will consider every application based on it's individual merits.
Does anyone know if we will be allocated marks for our personal statements and references? When did Queen's contact referees? -

Dont even talk. Last year i received a large white letter from Queens with a clear panel in the front, all you could see through the panel was "We are pleased to have offered you a place..." cue overdramatic jumping around screaming from me. About 10 minutes later I calmed down enough to open my letter only for it to say "on our Chemistry degree". Was devastated, had no intention of ever doing a chemistry degree so had completely forgot id even applied. :'( -
Re: Queens University Belfast Medicine Apps 2012 :D
Lets keep this thread alive so could all the really smart people who like myself applied to QUB for medicine post and get a wee conversation going.
Im trying to find some way of making the time go faster here so we can be on a weekday again (thats when queens can send out emails to us)
