Do you believe in your government?
So i recently got back from China and speaking with the locals they all felt they had great belief in their government. These were well educated individuals too. I know Chinas a communist state and so on.
But in the UK do you guys have belief in your government? Do you think it has your best interests at heart? Reasons why -
Re: Do you believe in your government?
No, I'm pretty certain the government doesn't exist. People keep saying that things like the firemen, all those hospitals and that public broadcasting group on the TV came from the state but I declare that to be balderdash! I see no conclusive evidence for the existence of a 'government'.
We are obviously all living in an anarcho-syndicalist commune. -
Re: Do you believe in your government?
Yes, for the most part. I think that Parliament is populated with many fine people on both sides of the house who I am proud to be represented by, and I am glad that they seem to be finding their voices again after a decade of backbench neglect by NuLab. Of course there are some just in there as part of the old boy's club, or for milking the system, and Parliament is not beyond reproach or reform, but for the most part it's an institution I'm proud of.
And there is no question for me that I am proud of the civil service and military and the work that they do. The former get a lot of hate for doing jobs we all depend on at often near minimum wage, and the latter don't get appreciated enough.
Essentially? Keep it up HMG. -
Re: Do you believe in your government?
This is gonna get me a load of negs but I honestly couldn't give a crap, it's just another indicator of the ignorance of some people who post on here.
Yes, I believe in my government. In an age where millions are dying from famine or simply not being able to afford medical care, in an age when some countries are run by drug gangs, extreme propaganda campaings, censorship (Yeah yeah, come all conspiracy theorists, you know full well The UK are among the leaders of free speech, etc).
I look and I see a country in which, if I am down on my luck, the state will support me, if I am hurt, free of charge I can seek medical care, one of the best police forces in the world, especially with irregular use of firearms.
The government ensure all this and continue to do so. They vote on the legislation and make it which keeps this country what it is, improving, no matter what the papers or teenagers who think they know what's going on would have you believe.
I'd rather have this government, than any other in the world, democracy, freedom and personal safety.
Thank you Britain. -
Re: Do you believe in your government? The government are the executive. The people who provide you with all this are the tax payer. The real owners of this country are the one's that are never voted for. The police are not there to protect you. They are there to ensure that you don't rise-up and dispose of her Majesty, and her precious executive government.(Original post by Agenda Suicide)

Re: Do you believe in your government? The United States was attacked. They are part of NATO - a military alliance. We are part of NATO. They requested that we help them, and as an ally we did. Simple.(Original post by zalwanich)
They send our troops into afghanista
You can't blame the whole of Parliament for the actions of a few war criminals like Blair. Parliament was fed bad information by the executive, it acted in good faith on bad intel.and iraq on the pretext of lies -

Government is run by individuals out for their own self interest or people who are zealots. Either way they are spending other peoples money and reducing freedom.
The notion that it has my best interests at heart is impossible. In the sense it cannot know what is in my best interest. And it cannot know what is in the best interest of the public. It simply does not have the knowledge.
