    I'm going to Bournemouth too!

I'm in the same frame of mind.
I like clubbing but I also like quiet nights on the town.

There's plenty of stuff going on, I'm sure there will be more than enough to do. Plus I'm sure there a few decent societies too, great place to meet like minded people.

I think it seems that way as everybody is trying to make an impression so I wouldn't worry!

To be fair I'm kinda nervous but I am up for going out and having a good time whether that includes drinking or not :P

I'm kinda glad you have posted this topic as it sounds very much like me. Sure, I plan to have fun during freshers but I dont intend on getting hammered every night.
I very rarely drink so have been kinda put off of the whole student thing in the past (to the extent that I nearly withdrew my application) but I have figured I may as well go as there is always going to be other people like me!
Its seems as though we are quite similar as I am much more of a pub guy than a club guy and would rather go cinema than waste all my money on booze!

P.s. Im staying in Lyme Regis so anyone whos in the same boat, maybe we should meet up some time

I'm currently a student at Bournemouth, also not a huge fan of the clubs. Recently broken up with my girlfriend of three years so during this time my friend circle has slowly deteriorated. It would be nice to meet up and make new friends with others who are not purely interested in drinking.

Once you get settled in, message me anytime and we will try to arrange something. Guys or girls.

Those two events are really the only ones I want to go to. I'm not exactly the biggest drum'n'bass enthusiast... -.-

I'm so relieved that someone feels the same as me, though! I've tried numerous times to go clubbing, but it's just not hugely fun for me. And I just have a rather fustrating inability to dance!

I feel a bit weird, because all of my future classmates who've added me on facebook ONLY talk about how drunk they're going to get and how many times they're going to end up in A&E during Freshers Week.
All I can say to them is fair enough...

I no its a long shot, but does anybody fancy swapping your room in either purbeck, cranborne, lyne regis, chesil house etc for a room at corfe house? I'm not one of the quiet ones, but have been offered a place at corfe and its really putting me off from going to uni now I no people might not just be willing to swap so I will even offer some sort of cash incentive!

So glad other people are thinking this. Like other people have said I would much rather go to a pub or cinema or something else where you can actually speak to people properly, rather than a loud club. Im from bournemouth myself and when I have been out clubbing i've been bored after 5mins, it seems you can only enjoy clubbing if you want to get completly off your face and if you want to hit on people, neither of which interests me at all!

I have the same inability, I just always feel really awkward when clubbing. Glad to know someone likes the same things, perhaps we could meet up if we cant find anyone to go with?
