Come on your not exactly helping to motivate us, people should try and stay positive to an extent.

Tbh, your adding to the gloom. Obviously the economy is not great overall, but I swear you'll put people off applying.
that may be the point lol

    DB, GS...
Those that are filling from interns? UBS/Barclays/JPM....?

Nice thread you have here guys. It does look like a lot of the high profile schemes have been filled with old interns though. I myself have a job offer for ops at Citi next year after working there in corporate actions this summer; however I'm trying my luck applying to front office roles.

My advice to unsuccessful applicants (like I probably will be), is to apply to smaller brokers etc and try to move to the bigger names later on in your career. Also, I strongly recommend taking the CFA exams, and if you have a front office role, you might even get the course funded and get granted study leave.

ok cool, but I'm applying to operations, so is the hiring just as bad at the banks like barcap etc .. where im better off going for an internship where I can and possibly go for a gap year.
Mate, if i were you, I'd try and do an internship in Ops before you apply for a full-time role there...Ops really isn't that great, actually it's not great at all.

It would be interesting to know for this year what % of summer interns got full time offers in different banks. Current news from Banks are gloomy.
Citi ibd quite high this year. I'd say 70-80% across the division as in my team, 6 out of 7 got an offer.

Given the market condition is bad, I guess they won't do many external hirings. But it is worth trying( their class of 2011 is as big as 65 for Ibd. And this year intern class is around 35, so I'm sure there will be a few, if not many, spots left for the right candidates.)

    Good luck!

RBS closed their grad scheme. I was sure that I saw they were open for London earlier.

I was rejected by CS. Has anyone heard back from any other firms?

RBS Grad scheme is open for London, i just checked! How long did it take for Credit Suisse to get back to you after tests?? I got rejected by citi group for Mathematical finance program, (which is weird because I am perfectly suited to that program given by quant backgroud).

Ah you're right! I was being silly. I got rejected at end of August, about a week after I sat for my tests. Not sure if it's because I flopped my tests tbh. :/ When did you apply for CS?

I only applied for credit suisse about 2 days ago, so still got a bit of time for a reply.

Has anyone else got this messege from RBS for trading:

Thank you again for your application to The Royal Bank of Scotland graduate
    development programme.

After reviewing your responses at the online testing stage, we are pleased to inform you that your performance has met our requirements, and that you will now be considered for progression to the next stage, which will be a face-to-face assessment.

Assessments for different business areas are run at different stages of the recruitment campaign, and we are not currently running assessments for your selected business area. When the assessments start, we will contact you to let you know.

Please be aware that, because we receive many high quality applications and spaces at the next round are limited, we are unable to guarantee an assessment place at this stage.

Offer for Ops from Credit Suisse.

Attended Ops & Tech networking event last month, and was automatically given a final stage interview as a result.
