Bath or Bristol

Hi guys, I'm an international student here intending to study economics.

I'm thinking of whether Bath or Bristol uni is better for me.

I heard that bristol is more prestigious and has better prospects and that Bath is really expensive! I find the City of Bath really nice though, with all the roman buildings. Amy Williams is also from Bath uni!!

Care to share guys?

I would choose Bristol solely because it's in a larger city and isn't a campus university, whereas Bath is a definite campus university and is much smaller. That said, both are excellent for economics and so I wouldn't really mind where out of the two I ended up. Both offer excellent opportunities for students both at university and post-university.

Go with what your instinct, they're both good unis.

I'm from the area and both cities are lovely. Bristol has a more vibrant atmosphere, I would say, so if you're very into clubbing and going out I'd take that into consideration.

Bristol and Bath are close enough together for you to take the bus/train and visit the other city frequently, anyway, if you so wish.
I can't be objective, but Bristol is a much larger city and will offer you a lot more in terms of the out of uni experience. Its essentially the capital of the south west.

Bath seems quite "english" has quite a traditional feel about the place. Then again that might be what you want and need to study.

In terms of job prospects, rankings and content theres hardly anything in it. You'll learn the same core economics in both. Check what options are availible and what the unis specialise in (research centres) as these are really the only criteria to score them against each other.

I think Bath do a placement year with the treasury/banks etc which, to me, looks pretty impressive and shows they've got good connections. Bristol doesnt offer that.

since the city of bath is like a tourist attraction, is it much more expensive than bristol?

Campus unis are far better than city unis!! Ha, well, my opinion of course. Seriously what's wrong with campus unis, and so good about city unis?

Guess people just like different things  I personally don't have a major preference.
Bristol is supposed to be one of the most mathematical economics courses if that makes any difference, not sure about Bath.
