Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 Entryi cant wait either. i hate work too, and since they found out about my Uni offer, they have made things a little difficult. not in an overtly nasty way, but just demoting me under the pretence my replacement needs to be competent by the time i leave(Original post by ann1e2000)
50 last birthday but as for maturity that's another thing altogether!
Can't wait to get started, i need to work until the end of august and I hate my job!
so, i show someone what to do and then that role is taken away from me. i currently have nothing to do as its all been subbed out already. in some ways, its great, im being paid to do nothing, but one of the reasons i applied for radiography is im bored of my job, and its now got even more mind numbing. dont know if i can last another 8wks of staring into space

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 Entry
I just had my interview in Derby Uni last Friday.Everything went so bad, during one to one interview i was so nervous and felt i didnt answer the question very well.Since few weeks a go i was practicing and doing research regarding the subject and i have been working as a volunteer in Radiology department for last 6 month.I think i did very good in group task and i just finished my access course and gained distinction in all 45 credit. How important is interview vs previous qualification and work experience,do i have any chance to get offer a place?
Has anyone experienced the same situation like me? -
Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryYour grades/work experience > Nerves. How nervous you are only shows how much you want it to them surely?(Original post by cj55)

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 Entryno-one knows what they are looking for, so dont worry about the one-on-one not going as you planned. as you say, you think you did ok in the group stuff, have relevant work experience, have done some personal research and got good grades in your Access Course.(Original post by cj55)

i have little or no relevant work experience, have done okish in my Access Course and talked the hind legs of a donkey in my interview, most of which was complete twaddell, as felt i needed to say something
You have covered most of the bases, so dont beat yourself up about what you think went wrong. Sometimes not having all the answers is seen as a good thing. Being too knowledgeable about a subject that you are not qualified in, sometimes comes across negatively, as it means you will be hard to teach or adapt seeing as you 'know-it-all' already.
its all done with now, so just sit back, relax and wait and see. you might be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryIn the paperwork they gave me before the interview it said that they give you a score for each part, which is the interview, the group task and the written task. The students with the highest total scores get offered places. I suppose the work experience and research would give you a higher score in the interview. Fingers crossed.(Original post by cj55)

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryPsychology with Counselling. Yeah I had mine last week, it only lasted 5mins, she just asked a few questions and took some blood. Glad it was quick but I drove nearly 2 hours for it! lol(Original post by klattimer1)
oh right! What's your degree in? Thank you! Yeah mine is the 11th July
when is yours? I got some of the injections last year so hopefully I won't need them again!

I'm not sure which thread to post in but I'm interested in doing diagnostic radiography at uni next year (2013 entry). I'm currently planning on shadowing a radiographer to see if it is truly the right choice as it's not always easy to tell when just reading about it
Unfortunately Leeds have gone from BBB to ABB D: It would have been my first choice if they gave me an offer, but i was aiming for BBB in my A levels, not expecting the rise in required grades
. I've just left year 13 and I am taking a gap year to see if diagnostic radiography is truly for me but now i fear i won't get in! I'm not expecting an A grade when i get my results and resits may be frowned upon. Sorry for the vent but i'm just frustrated!
Also, I haven't done physics since GCSE, will I struggle? thanks!

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryYeah unfortunately every year universities are putting their grade requirements up. Would you consider other universities as well as Leeds? I think some uni's entry requirements are as low as CCC or BCC. As for the physics, I wouldn't worry about it, from what I've heard not having physics A-Level is no big deal, if it was that important they would make it a requirement.(Original post by hvcxxx)

Are you looking at Leeds because of location? If so, have you considered Bradford?(Original post by hvcxxx)

I wouldn't worry about physics too much, although a help, there are a large number of mature applicants for radiography who haven't even thought about science for many years and they get accepted (I'm one of them). Also, I wouldn't be too concerned about a resit, especially if you'll be doing it before you've even applied, i.e. this summer. You won't be waiting around for resit results to decide your fate come next summer. -

Thank you everyone! Leeds would be the most convenient university for me in terms of location, but I will definitely consider other unis as at the end of the day it's becoming a radiographer that really matters(Original post by FXX)
Having a background in physics would be useful (I found my AS physics helped a great deal) but they teach you from the very beginning and it doesn't go into any great depth.
Plus I may not even always be in Leeds due to placements. The rising entry requirements is just frustrating, however I'm aiming for BBB/BBC so somewhere should consider me! I'm glad physics shouldn't be a great struggle though, and that's true about how they would make it a requirement if it was really vital!

Well done! See, you were right not to give up hope.(Original post by Mel27x)
got an interview @ university of cumbria
lancaster campus on thursday 12th july
so happy! anyone had an interview there? is it a nice place and is the interview laid back? any tests etc? xx
I had an interview at the Carlisle campus, it was pretty informal. A half hour chat with a lecturer asking the usual questions. I think the Lancaster orientation day (form filling session) is the week after your interview so be prepared that you may need to go again fairly quickly if you're accepted. Good luck! -
Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryOh really?? That is quick isnt it...that being said least i wont have to wait long to see if im in or not. i havent ever wanted something as bad as this before i tell ya!! Proper know its what i want to do now :-D have u got into cumbria at carlisle then?? Well done xxx(Original post by KevM)

I guess they'll have to decide pretty quickly who has got the remaining places so no, you won't be waiting long

I originally applied for Carlisle but I've been offered a place at Lancaster, which I've accepted. However, I've asked to be notified of any places that become available at Carlisle, I've been told I'll have to wait until all the results are out before I hear. So, I might see you there come September! -

My interview was in January at Lancaster, lovely place. Was very informal and no tests, felt like I was having a chat about why I want to be a radiographer, which isn't hard to answer. I am attending the orientation day on the 17th have to be there between 10-11am.

Re: Diagnostic Radiography - 2012 EntryAwh brilliant news i reli ope i get a place. do u know if we choose placement preferences?? Or do we jst get allocated one? Also do u think if i get an offfer thag i will need to attend this day also? Xxx(Original post by KarenJ)
