    Fairy lights in dorms?
I just got my accommodation today- Horwood! But the paperwork says no fairy lights and I was really wanting to use them...has anyone used them in their dorm and got away with it, or are they really stringent about it?
And..another thing, if you are at your dorm now, could you post a picture? It would be nice to get an idea of it Thanks!

From the experience of my friends in first year, their fairy lights were confiscated.

The online induction mentioned it several times, there was even a video of them starting a fire!!

It seemed a very big no no from what I gathered

Ah okay, I haven't done the online induction yet. Well if they're that big of a problem I definitely won't have them. I'll have to find other means of decorating then! Thanks!

Why do people want fairy lights anyway? How about just get a lamp. Much brighter, more convenient, more practical. If you're getting fairy lights because for decorative purposes, just get some nice art to put on you wall instead.

Yeah, don't bring fairy lights lol. They'll get confiscated very very quickly.

    As above... QFT!

Fairy lights are a massive fire hazard and arguably just drain on electricity needlessly.

I'm just going to decorate with posters. I'm slightly obsessed with interior design and I kept seeing fairy lights in all the magazines and I kind of wanted them. But after watching the video on the Keele accommodation induction I'm scared to even have them on a christmas tree!

Dont worry I am having the same problem, as are many others by the sounds of it. Havent heard any of the conditional firmers getting on yet so it must be an IT problem at their end. I emailed today so may get something back tomorrow.

I called them up a few weeks ago (I had my accomodation offer early) and they said my username and password had changed, they just gave it over the phone, it all worked after that

I got an email back from them, I had a conditional offer so didnt get my accommodation through until a couple of days ago. I emailed and they replyed that they were having problems at their end and to wait until the end of the week when it should work again.
