    Seriously?
The waiting, coupled with my A-Level workload has turned me into a serious pessimist

Guys you need to stop freaking out cause you haven't heard yet. Medschools have a very large number of applicants, they can't process and interview them all in one month. If they could do that, they would be doing it after applicants had their A-level grades.

I didn't hear from Birmingham until february, had my interview mid-late february, and got an offer in march, as I recall.

Oh dear, doesn't bode well then for when you have the work load of a medical student...

But then again, I won't be waiting around to find out if I'm going to have to take a gap year either

No, but you might be waiting to see if you have an offer to do an intercalated degree, or if you've got a job in your first choice foundation school...

Being so judgemental when someone is just being honest about themselves doesn't 'bode well' for a doctor either

I'm not being judgmental, they can be as pessimistic as they like. I'm just trying to prove the point that giving up so easily won't get you anywhere.

Maybe some encouragement would have been more fitting then?

Flick back a few pages in the thread and you'll see that I have been giving encouragement and so have many others but seeing as they don't seem to listen to us when we tell them "not to worry" and "it's only November, interviews last til March" I thought I might try a different tactic.

Good luck to anyone with interviews! Not heard anything so far - how are people preparing?

They have been rejected without interview due to the fact they do not meet the GCSE A* requirement.

No need to worry for those of you who a) have had an interview or b)have 8A*s!

Are you sure? It says that they had 4As at AS, 7 A* at GCSE (the minimum requirement) and that they had an interview on the same day I had mine.

Maybe I missed the interview thing, but I thought the requirement was 8A*s?? That's what we were told to tell people on the open day...

Either way it's a rejection - the way I'd be thinking now is "they've handed out the rejections and I don't have one, woop!"

They did have an interview? Also, a girl at my school also got an interview with 7A*s this year - I think they are also putting emphasis on AS grades too this year.

A friend has received an interview but told that there would be a science based exercise. Some who have had their interviews had nothing else apart from the interview. Anybody else aware of this variation?
