Not at my university...one word over and you risk loosing marks.

mm i ended up doing 1565.. 65 words over. i also emailed the module director to double check what the word limits were like and asked if something like an extra 80 words would result in lost marks. the thing i'm most scared about though is him seeing the email sent at gone midnight, assume that i've left it all to the last minute thus have a preconception that the essay quality is poor.
