Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012
I figured there would already be a thread for 2012, but there wasn't.
Anyone else planning to apply?
I'm almost certain that I am
EDIT: Might be useful to know, the BMAT cut-off last year was: 4.9 4.9 2.5C (http://www1.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/.../requirements/)Last edited by oHellno; 25-08-2011 at 16:26. -
Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012I can see why that might not appeal to everyone, I quite like it though the whole specialist science thing. That being said, science itself is so broad, they have so many courses, I don't think I'll get sick of it lol.(Original post by kingcoltzan)
Me to
Liked Imperial a lot when I first went to see it.
Only draw back is its science only nature

Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012Nah I didn't feel it at the time. It was afterwards when someone from KCL talked to me about it, ok their biased, but still, I know you are in London, but your dormates are all going to be scientists! As much as I love science and hate arty subjects - when it comes to socialising - being with scientists only would be a bit boring IMO(Original post by oHellno)

Don't get me wrong, I'm still applying cause I loved it and would love to go there! -
Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012I'm sure scientists have fun too(Original post by kingcoltzan)

Tbf, not all of the courses are pure science, so there'll be flickers of language-y/management-y/etc people too lol.

Thing to add to the OP: their BMAT cut-off last year was 4.9 4.9 2.5C (http://www1.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/.../requirements/).

Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012Try calling the admissions department, if you can. I reckon you'd need a good reason seeing as they pretty much state everywhere that they require a fourth AS.(Original post by DLZF)
I am aware than imperial needs 3A2+1AS subjects but i am not permitted to take 4 subs. Have emailed them regarding this but no reply for weeks. So, do 3A2 subs with a reason for not taking the 4th AS meet their entry requirements? -
Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012Where are you applying to? Apart from Imperial and UCL the other London ones all use UKCAT.(Original post by Notsocleverstudent)
Kinda have to apply here, my choices are restricted to London Unis. Hopefully BMAT goes well, otherwise I'll only have 1 other Uni to hang onto.

Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012Well imperial and barts are probably the only unis i can apply to, I'll probably go for kings anyway although my gcses are fairly moderate. Can't apply to ucl as im not gonna be able to do Bio to A2 and no st georges as i don't meet their min gcse requirement :'((Original post by oHellno)

Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012
sure, imperial is full of sciencey people, but there is the option of taking humanities, arts and language classes (which are actually quite popular) if you fancy something a bit different.
plus don't forget this is london, it's full of non-science students, you might just have to venture out of south ken to find them
good luck! -
Re: Imperial College Medicine Applicants 2012People always say it's slightly risky to apply to Imperial with a humanities/arts subject but I've actually heard of quite a few people getting in with more than one arts, so I'd like to think it's not true lol.(Original post by raveen789)
It is true that ICL prefer students to be doing "sciency" A levels? or do they not discriminate as long as you have 2 sciences at A level.
me too
Liked Imperial a lot when I first went to see it.
