I got 9A*s and 2As at GCSE and a UKCAT of 735, but I'm a bit worried because I'll only have AS Biology and my PS is sounding quite fake at the moment. Could a really bad PS and my lack of A2 bio torpedo my application, or will I still have a good chance of an interview?

(btw I got AAAA at AS and am predicted 3A*s at A2)

Edit: Okaay, negged for what reason? This is a serious question and I am only asking here because I couldn't get through to Kings directly. Jeez

Really really like King's but don't know if my application will be strong enough.

I got 690 on UKCAT, 7A*'s and 4A's at GCSE and already have 1A* and 3A's at A level.

Am I likely to get an interview if I have good work experience and PS?

    Yeah - I had 700 UKCAT, 3A*s, 6As & 1 B and A*A*A prediction but obtained AAA
So I think you should be fine - just get lots of work experience - and Kings ask for proof at the interview of your work experience (ask you to provide contact details) and make sure your PS is a smasher!

    Hey guys:
i was wondering if 1a* 10a's and 1B is a decent bass for a track into medicine. Just if i should not attempt to go for the course or if i still have a faint shot at it, taking into consideration 3a* 1A in alevels.

I'm not sure about your lack of Biology - you'd have to ask them directly. And yeah I'm trying to get hold of Kings too - they're a nightmare at times!
But your grades and UKCAT are great!
There's a PS service on here - I advice if you're worried about it use them - they're very good.

    Hey everyone!

Sorry for asking but was just wondering if I would be in with a good enough chance?

I have 7A*'s and 2A's at GCSE and 4A's in Chemistry,Biology,Psychology and Religious Studies at AS with good UMS percentages at AS.

    UKCAT::: 680

I have W.E and volunteer work etc.

    Thanks

Hi guys, I easily meet the requirements for King's. I got 10A* at GCSE and 720 in the UKCAT, I know that this is enough, but does it guarantee me an interview (assume everything else is good, predicted AAA etc)

Sat the ukcat around 4 days ago... got 685 average! pretty content with the score, but the individual section scores are not consistent... got 540 in VR.

Do you know if this is okay for King's?

Hey guys! I got 3A*, 4 As 2Bs and 2Cs in my gcses. Got AAAB in AS and my ukcat is in 2 weeks time. If i have a very strong personal statement and predicited AAA for A2 do i stand a chance of getting an interview. I know that my GCSE's are not up to the level but do i still have a chance of getting into kings college london. Its my dream college and my cousin also studied medicine here.

I think VR is always tough because its in my opinion at least the hardest section in some ways - because there is always a very very fine line between can't tell/true and can't tell/false. Whereas AR you see it or you don't, QR same thing, VR is quite subjective and I think people ignore it and look at other sections more such as QR because they get scared about finishing in time etc.

Personally VR was my worst section with 670, scores went up consistently till the end from there, maybe it was worst just because its the first section and the nerves are there for everyone?

Yeah was okay in the end... DA saved it, ended up on 697.5 (so close to 700 :'( )
    How was it for you???
same! my DA saved me too! i got 860 which was rather relieving as my QR was relatively low too :s but i managed to get an average of 680 which i'm quite pleased with. and wow well done though! thats a really impressive score!! it pretty much is 700 where else are you applying to?

Well done!! You should secure interviews at most unis with that score...
And for sure UCL and Imperial and now its between King's, Nottingham and Barts.

Would love to apply King's but my school made us do C1 maths in year 11 so technically I've taken more than 2 years to complete maths But imma ring them tomorrow and see if there is any leeway lool

    Where you applying??
ahh hopefully! i'm dead worried, medicines got so competitive nowadays its ridiculous. i'm stuck between barts and kings as well! i havent a clue where to go!! i wish i went to the open days but i was busy, and its too late for me to go down and visit now...
hahaa i'm sure it'll be fine, some people in my year have done the same as you and i'm pretty sure its okay
i am applying to bristol, brighton&sussex, cardiff and either barts or kings!

nope to select for interview kings use a sliding scale regarding GCSE A*'s and UKCAT average...i.e. a high number of A*'s will compensate for a lower UKCAT average.

Generally speaking, and very much so generally speaking, 9/10 A*'s or more OR a 700+ average should pretty much guarantee you an interview..

Having said this I knew some people who got a GKT interview who don't fall into either category which would suggest the selection procedure is more thorough than just this e.g. It seems personal statement does carry some weight...

my friend had only 5 A* at GCSE and a UKCAT avg of around 670 but his statement was very good (confirmed by one of the medicine people at college who read through our statements and gave advice etc ) and he got an interview late on in the cycle.

And, ofc, let us not forget the interview is mega important at GKT...around 50-60% success rate post-interview so getting an interview by no means guarantees an offer!
    Sorry, what's GKT?

    Sorry, what's GKT?
The official name of the uni is Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine... i.e. GKT but everyone just says King's
