Nope not really, it is something that is going to happen no matter what we do I wouldn't want to live forever it would get quite dull and depressing so let death wait it's time when it's ready so will I.

No. I don't. But religious people do. Religion is the great cop-out to what is really going to happen.

Yeah, I think I am slightly fearful of the prospect of dying. I'm hoping that by the time I am old, they will have discovered how to halt the process that causes us to "age", and then I can live forever.

I don't look forward to death at all, but I try not to waste time fretting about what is after all an inevitability. It's comforting to know that I have at least had a chance of living, have lived a good life so far, and will probably continue leading a good life for decades to come. Would the opposite - eternal life - be worse or better? It's hard to say, because you can barely comprehend what your life will be like in five years, let alone 500,000 years.

Of course a natural primate response is a fear of dying as in falling apart and feeling pain but the extinction of my consciousness, me doesn't scare me which I find interesting as many believers in the after life are far more afraid of death than I an atheist. What I look forward to is giving something back either being digested by fungus helping the ecosystem or i get stuffed and hold a sign either way I'll be doing a pubic service.

I think it's more the fact that you don't know when you're going to die, or how much pain will be involved that scares me.

Dying perhaps because you know, that could be quite painful but after that it doesn't really matter, I'll be dead. Also I suppose I'm worried about dying without living life to the fullest and having wasted precious time. And not having achieved anything worthwhile.

No, but I just hope it isn't slow and painful.

    Death, no.

Dying, depends, but not especially. The prospect of surviving some things is worse than dying as a result of them.

As some people have already mentioned. It is not death I fear, but the process which you must go through to get there.

But surely we are going through that process from the first nanosecond of life? So I fear life? Is life the process you go through to get to death, or merely the absence of death? I'm not sure I agree with Richard Dawkins/Mark Twain in that I believe you must have lived to be dead, the unborn are not dead. Death is the end of life.

Surely being born isn't some kind of resurrection? Where life is created from death.

Sweet heebyjeebyus it is a waste of time even thinking about this.

Unless some great one can answer rhetorical questions.

I fear the unknown, but I don't fear death because I know that if anything comes afterwards, regardless of what it is I will see my brother again and I will meet my granddad, and that if nothing comes afterwards, I won't know about it.

I'm not scared of being dead, but I'm scared of how it's going to happen. I'm scared of being in pain, or having my life taken away, but that's it.

Take from this what you will, but most people who have died for small amount of time and been brought back (NDE) describe a complete lack of fear at death, in fact rather peaceful. I dunno, if you believe in life after death or not but it seems that the point of death may not be that scary regardless of what's on the other side

I'm not scared of dying but I'm scared of my belief of what comes next: absolutely nothing. It really freaks me out that you stop existing and your experiences and memories are lost.

As a side note, this is also what makes me jealous of religious people. Having faith in something you cannot know is something I wish I could do.

I sometimes wonder what it'll be like. Will my mind just switch off or will it go off bit by bit so i feel it falling away as i gasp for consciousness.

I'd have to make an effort to hold fear out of my mind. More of a quickly picking sprouts before they grow than a pushing. Not a case of feel the fear and behave as tho you dont but rather not feeling it. I could choose to let it in and were i to die alone i might do that to get the "ZOMG IM HEADING TOWARDS A WALL AT 90MPH AND NOOOO BRAAAAKES!!" roller coaster of it. Its not a case of am i scared or not. I could be or i could not be. I think. Obviously one cant answer a question such as this with certanty.

I think about my funeral sometimes. I'd like to do something unique that represents my unique personality.

Would getting someone to dress up as me and jump out of the coffin be too much?
