Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012Year 13(Original post by bubble2468)
So are you currently in year 13 or 12?

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012Well, you know the envelope they give you at interview? I had a sudden moment where I thought 'what if the envelope is a test, and you need to send it back already to receive an offer?!' Obviously that's not true, but in there there was a letter saying how long you should expect to wait to hear from them.(Original post by ayajul)
Can I ask which letter this is? I'm also still on hold btw, expecting a rejection by this point tbh, why would they keep us this long without saying anything :L
I'm also not expecting more than a rejection any more, I'm still hoping like an infant though. I still haven't phoned either, I will soon though!!

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012
Phone! I was put on hold, rang up and whilst they said it wouldn't help much, I recieved my offer the following week, before they said they'd get back to me. It'll mean they're more likely to think of you if they're giving out offers... (even if it doesn't help, it can't hurt!)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012
i can't find an official thread for student finance so i was wondering if anyone on here could help me out ...
i've been reading some documents about it and from what i gather, when you take out a student loan, at the end of uni, there is no exact amount that you have to pay back? say you took out a total loan of 45k, even if at some point you're able to pay all of that off, you can't? you have to pay every year for 30 years (if you earn more than 21k p/a)? - have i got that right? -
Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012It really really doesn't work like that. You got an offer because your interview score was high enough, not because you rang them up!(Original post by bubble2468)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012
i really want to do medicine, I'm currently at AS, I've been targeted 4 A's. My january results were: A-chemistry, A-biology, A-maths and B-physics.
all of the A's were above 90%. at gcse, i didn't try as much as i could have, but that was probably because my high school was really bad, it had a pass rate of 30%.
however i achieved:
eng lang: a
eng lit: a*
maths: a*
graphics: a
business: a*
r.e: a*
chemistry: a*
physics: a
biology: a
ict: a*
ict core: a
bengali: a
I've also achieved a silver in the chemistry olympiad, have work experience in a hospice, hospital, gp and built a nursery in my village in bangladesh.
my question is, would i be able to do medicine at manchester university with these qualifications and experience? -
Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012your stats are fantastic, be confident! i'm assuming your work experience at the hospice is long-term? if not, then try to do a placement with vulnerable people for a few months ... deffo apply to manchester. obviously whether or not you're successful depends on your UKCAT result and interview ... but you'll stand a fair chance given you do well in them ... good luck(Original post by distroyer)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012Yeah agreed, as long as you do well in UKCAT and your personal statement is good, you should be in with a good chance of getting an interview! (I had worse GCSE reults than that and got two B's at AS and still got an interview and now have an offer :P)(Original post by Dr.Galaxy99)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012
Hi guys,
haven't been on TSR for a while...
busy volunteering in my gap year
so who is coming to manchester with me?????
I had to resit and reapply but they gave me a offer without an interview...
Still in shock...feels like its too good to be true
Can anyone tell me whether the CAS letter is sent to all applicants around the same period or do they send it early if you have already met the conditions of your offer?? -
Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012how is this possible? they allowed you to resit, what did you get in your resit, did they say why no interview?(Original post by med1o1)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012Might have been due to travelling? Not sure though(Original post by henchness)

but there's a guy in my school who is a re-re-applicant and he also got an offer with no interview and I think it's because he was travelling!

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012have you already applied for accommodation? Oak House and a few of the others in Fallowfields seem very popular! I feel like I'm the only one who's considering Victoria Park, my first choice was going to be Whitworth Park because it seems so convenient and cheap but after what some of the things I've read online I'm kinda thinking against it..(Original post by CraigKirk)
I'm really hoping to get into Oak house. It's the only mixed-sex self-catered cheap hall in Fallowfield. Fingers crossed!

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012I have indeed. They do seem popular, which is worrying because I don't really want to go anywhere else at all! However, if you're unconditional (or soon to be following those checks) then apparently accommodation offers will come through in June. Otherwise it's a wait until after results.(Original post by Em_Ay)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012You have an unconditinal offer? That reminds me, I need to send my Health Questionnaire back! Ohh, yeah, I've heard it runs on a first-come-first-served basis?(Original post by CraigKirk)

Re: Manchester Medicine Applicants 2012I would expect that as soon as they've processed my CRB check and health check, then they will change my offer to unconditional (since I already have the grades). I believe it is first-come-first-served - is there a fairer way to do it?(Original post by Em_Ay)
