Thermodynamics - Pressurised Containers HELP

Hello all,
I haven't got a specific question as such, I'm more or less asking for a good resource on a whole topic. It's for first year mech eng.
In my thermo exam there was a question with two pressurised cylinders that were joined together, of different volumes and pressures. Which are then basically combined. I can't remember what the question asked for specifically. But hopefully If you've done thermodynamics you'll get a rough idea of the kind of question.

This is the one thing in the entire year i cannot get my head around! does anyone know of a good book that explains these kinds of problems well?

I've started revising so I don't start my second year "flat-footed", and this is beginning to drive my mad!

I'll try and put up a specific question when the university decides I'm allowed to log on to the learning resources again.
