    I think its mainly predicted grades rather than your AS grades. My as grades were AABB and my predicted grades A*A*AA.

    Chances are it's predicted grades, I had AS grades below the asking point, but got an offer anyway. Though I'm guessing a personal statement has to be well written to compensate, so below-average AS's and a badly written PS would probably be a no-no

    Ohk!! Thanxx for sharing ur xperience......that was encoraging; atleast I have slightest of the chance for getting in the uni even if I fail to achieve the predicted grades

    Ahh I think you're misunderstanding me, you may get an offer even if your AS grades are below par, but you'd still have to achieve their asking requirements in order to get a place.

    So they may give offers to people with ABB at AS level, and somebody with A*AA, and both people will have to reach the requirements at A2 in order to be accepted.

    edit: if by 'predicted grades' you meant your AS's, then my mistake, just thought I'd clarify just in case

    Hey! Does anyone know how long Bath usually takes in deciding on postgraduate applications? I've heard back from most of my other schools, not Bath. Before I made a final decision, I was hoping to hear from them... I know they say up to 6 weeks; it's only been 3ish... but being an American student, I need to start the whole loan/housing/visa process...

    Thanks =)!

    Hi. Despite the video in your sig being published on the 1st April, does it not make you cringe as a mathematician?

    I spent most of the time laughing tbh, I knew Vi was doing it tongue-in-cheek and that was what I kept in mind whilst watching it

    Although when I see people attempting to pass things like that off as actual fact, then, yes, I do cringe. Stuff like that 40+40x0+1=1 thing that a far-too-large proportion of people believe makes me cringe. Once, someone I know posted on my wall 'please don't say you clicked '41''. Ugh.

    Aha, I see.
    May the joys of maths continue to serve you well.

    Ha, thanks

    You do physics, right? What are the quantumish lectures like? I'm thinking of sneaking in

    I would have joined you in maths, but I grew up watching sci-fi which ultimately influenced my choice. Besides, physics provides enough maths to keep me warm at night.

    Quantum lectures -- those were wonderful, especially with our quantum lecturer saying 'jolly good' after every satisfying derivation which never failed to give us all a smile. The maths is simple to follow (so far at least as a second year undergraduate) but the real magic lies in the counter-intuitive witchcraft that goes on in the quantum world. I loved it.

    Yeah, I think I might poke my head into some physics lectures. I very nearly applied for maths with physics anyway. My A2 coursework's on the neutrino FTL thing (I handed it in 3 days before they announced that they'd found a fault in the fibre optics) which I found pretty interesting.
