Re: The UEA Question ThreadThe accommodation at UEA is amazing! It might look a bit concrete-y from the outside, but inside it's brilliant! Definitely the best I've seen.(Original post by RastaMannn)
I would like to apply to UEA, but from the videos on their YouTube channel, the surroundings and the accomadation doesn't look very pleasant. Am I right in saying this? (from your perspective of course)
Cambridge accommodation was poop, in comparison. I had to spend a week of my life in a room in Newnham College, was dire

Re: The UEA Question ThreadI've heard people complain about the concrete but never about the surroundings! There are rabbits and a lake on campus and lots of greenery! What more do you want?(Original post by RastaMannn)

And UEA's accommodation is brilliant (imo). I mean, granted, I haven't seen much university accommodation but UEA's accommodation was a million times better than Kent's accommodation and a lot cheaper too! Even my ridiculously fussy family fell in love with UEA and when we first arrived for the open day, my mum had turned her nose up at the concrete.
Go and see it for yourself, videos won't show you everything and they're definitely no substitute for the amazing atmosphere.

Re: The UEA Question ThreadYou may want to consider taken a coach directly from Gatwick airport to UEA. They depart approx every 2 hours and stop directly on campus. Takes about 5.5 hours and costs upwards of £40. May be the best option if you have loads of luggage as you won't have to carry it anywhere. The service is the '727'(Original post by muneeb_noor)
Hello!
I am international student and I will be arriving at London Gatwick Airport. Unfortunately, UEA doesn't offer meet and greet service for international students on Gatwick Airport. So what route would be most suitable for me?
Search this website specifying 'Gatwick' (plus arrival terminal - North or South) and 'University of East Anglia' as the to/from criteria:

Re: The UEA Question ThreadI brought all of mine and no one ever asked to see them, so I'm sure having some photocopies to hand just in case would be fine.(Original post by Jakelee)
Do you need to bring your GCSE/ A-level certificates or will photocopies suffice? -
Re: The UEA Question ThreadCheers Bethan. I sent some in a while ago to get my offer to become unconditional but on the webpage it says you need to bring the certficates so I was just getting confused.(Original post by BethanW)

Re: The UEA Question ThreadIt's probably a logistics thing - in theory, they should check them and plan accordingly, but the sheer number of students means that they probably just don't bother!(Original post by Jakelee)
Cheers Bethan. I sent some in a while ago to get my offer to become unconditional but on the webpage it says you need to bring the certficates so I was just getting confused.

Re: The UEA Question ThreadWhat school are you in? CMP have some down near the labs.(Original post by howzatt)
Hi folks, does anybody know if the UEA has lockers available for students that commute daily? Cheers -
Re: The UEA Question ThreadThey're still four weeks, it says so here.(Original post by Jake2000)
Hmm.. does anyone know why the Christmas and Easter holidays appear to have been shortened to 3 weeks instead of 4?
For the 2012-13 year, they are both 3 weeks, and also 3 weeks long this Easter (2011-12)
You might have been looking at the PGCE dates? -
Re: The UEA Question ThreadWhere abouts?(Original post by BethanW)
They're still four weeks, it says so here.
You might have been looking at the PGCE dates?
For 2011-12 I see "(Easter break 31 March to 22 April)"
2012-13
"(Christmas break 15 December to 6 January)"
"(Easter break 23 March to 14 April)"
Am I looking at the wrong ones? -
Re: The UEA Question ThreadSorry, I misread your post! I thought you were talking about this year. I've no idea what's up with that, how strange(Original post by Jake2000)

Re: The UEA Question ThreadTPSC = Thomas Paine Study Centre(Original post by makingamemory)
What is it with UEA and abbreviations(or is it acronyms?
)?lol
Does anyone know what these stand for/where they are, please?
'TPSC LT'
'DRA 0.01'
'EFRY 01.05'
'C.HALL 01.19'
EFRY = Elizabeth Fry Building
(Presumably)
I'm not a student there, I've just visited many times.

Can't find the TPSC on the map
LOL I swear there hasn't be one place I have had to go this week that I have known where it is...apart from the LCR.
-
Re: The UEA Question ThreadTPSC is right next to the medical school, and sort of opposite the Elizabeth Fry Building. It's got a bright orange/red bit painted on the side (If memory serves me right)(Original post by makingamemory)
Thanks haha

Those are the only 3 buildings I know the location of at the UEA
-
Re: The UEA Question ThreadTPSC is the Thomas Payne lecture theatre - it's right down the back of campus behind the science blocks. You'll know it when you see it, it's new and fancy and the lecture theatre is really easy to find once you're inside.(Original post by makingamemory)

'TPSC LT'
'DRA 0.01'
'EFRY 01.05'
'C.HALL 01.19'
EFRY is the Elizabeth Fry building, which is opposite TP and also quite new. It's got big glass doors. 01.05 means you'll be on the floor below the entrance floor in room 05.
C.Hall is congregation hall, which is the building next to the drama studio, opposite the LCR right on the edge of campus near the bus stop. You want to go down a floor when you get in and head for room 19.
I'm going to take a wild guess that DRA is the drama studio, because I've never seen it used before and I know most of the other acronyms.
Hope that helps!
