I would like to apply to UEA, but from the videos on their YouTube channel, the surroundings and the accomadation doesn't look very pleasant. Am I right in saying this? (from your perspective of course)
The accommodation at UEA is amazing! It might look a bit concrete-y from the outside, but inside it's brilliant! Definitely the best I've seen.

Cambridge accommodation was poop, in comparison. I had to spend a week of my life in a room in Newnham College, was dire

I've heard people complain about the concrete but never about the surroundings! There are rabbits and a lake on campus and lots of greenery! What more do you want? And UEA's accommodation is brilliant (imo). I mean, granted, I haven't seen much university accommodation but UEA's accommodation was a million times better than Kent's accommodation and a lot cheaper too! Even my ridiculously fussy family fell in love with UEA and when we first arrived for the open day, my mum had turned her nose up at the concrete. Go and see it for yourself, videos won't show you everything and they're definitely no substitute for the amazing atmosphere.

    Hello!
I am international student and I will be arriving at London Gatwick Airport. Unfortunately, UEA doesn't offer meet and greet service for international students on Gatwick Airport. So what route would be most suitable for me?
You may want to consider taken a coach directly from Gatwick airport to UEA. They depart approx every 2 hours and stop directly on campus. Takes about 5.5 hours and costs upwards of £40. May be the best option if you have loads of luggage as you won't have to carry it anywhere. The service is the '727'

Search this website specifying 'Gatwick' (plus arrival terminal - North or South) and 'University of East Anglia' as the to/from criteria:
    National Express

Do you need to bring your GCSE/ A-level certificates or will photocopies suffice?

I brought all of mine and no one ever asked to see them, so I'm sure having some photocopies to hand just in case would be fine.

Cheers Bethan. I sent some in a while ago to get my offer to become unconditional but on the webpage it says you need to bring the certficates so I was just getting confused.

It's probably a logistics thing - in theory, they should check them and plan accordingly, but the sheer number of students means that they probably just don't bother!

Hi folks, does anybody know if the UEA has lockers available for students that commute daily? Cheers

Hmm.. does anyone know why the Christmas and Easter holidays appear to have been shortened to 3 weeks instead of 4?

For the 2012-13 year, they are both 3 weeks, and also 3 weeks long this Easter (2011-12)

They're still four weeks, it says so here.

You might have been looking at the PGCE dates?

    Where abouts?

For 2011-12 I see "(Easter break 31 March to 22 April)"

    2012-13

"(Christmas break 15 December to 6 January)"
"(Easter break 23 March to 14 April)"

Am I looking at the wrong ones?

Sorry, I misread your post! I thought you were talking about this year. I've no idea what's up with that, how strange

TPSC = Thomas Paine Study Centre

    EFRY = Elizabeth Fry Building

    (Presumably)

I'm not a student there, I've just visited many times. :ahee:

Can't find the TPSC on the map LOL I swear there hasn't be one place I have had to go this week that I have known where it is...apart from the LCR.

TPSC is right next to the medical school, and sort of opposite the Elizabeth Fry Building. It's got a bright orange/red bit painted on the side (If memory serves me right)

Those are the only 3 buildings I know the location of at the UEA

TPSC is the Thomas Payne lecture theatre - it's right down the back of campus behind the science blocks. You'll know it when you see it, it's new and fancy and the lecture theatre is really easy to find once you're inside.

EFRY is the Elizabeth Fry building, which is opposite TP and also quite new. It's got big glass doors. 01.05 means you'll be on the floor below the entrance floor in room 05.

C.Hall is congregation hall, which is the building next to the drama studio, opposite the LCR right on the edge of campus near the bus stop. You want to go down a floor when you get in and head for room 19.

I'm going to take a wild guess that DRA is the drama studio, because I've never seen it used before and I know most of the other acronyms.

    Hope that helps!
