Guys, who's your internet service provider?
I switched from Virgin 10mb(never bothered with the free 20mb upgrade) to Sky 7-14mb. I get lag in every game and my bullet recognition is near is really bad. Speedtest shows an average ping over 3 days of 78 whereas my virgin was always around 10-30. I'm thinking of switching back because this is torture.

You could use pingtest as a guide (purely for packet loss though) but it won't provide the real results you're after because you're pinging to other locations and you can't do a pingtest in-game on the Xbox. Apparently torrenting works but I've stopped doing that because it's such a hassle and my voice breaks up over the line when I'm in a party. I've noticed I'm not as screwed over as I used to be and I've always had Virgin 50Mb when gaming though. I have switched off theatre recording since and have no idea if it works or not as I get mixed opinions from feedback from other gamers. I don't know why the game won't accept a country and distance match making criteria because a lot of issues will disappear from this. I used to get token French players who'd be a beast in a match when the rest are UK based but they'd turn to rubbish when this is no longer the case. You could also try changing your NAT type from open to moderate and see how that works.

I did the pingtest just now and got this. I know what ping is but is IDK if it's a good result overall compared with other ISP in my location.

Yeah you can only compare if you have two connections runnign at the same time and very few people have that. It seems okay but it doesn't show the pings to gamers you're with. Try some experimenting with the NAT and theatre recording. May be you're pulling host and being screwed over badly. One of my friends gets done over with American gamers more than me when I'm in the same match on his side, yet I appear to get done over by the token French gamer, although Mexican gamers are notoriously laggy. I no longer rush too aggressively in combat just in case of the lag. It's why I use claymores to kill lagging beast foreign players who use shotguns.

Agree with you there, regardless of how good you are, once you're up a against a French clan playing through their host, you're in for a good beat-down.

It's not too bad, I get my arse whupped but that's nothing new. It's a bit faster than on the normal maps.

Hey welcome back! Might I infer from your flag that you've moved?

I love 3v3 face off. Play with 2 friends, 1 sniper 1 LMG, both on support, while I run around with Assault, typically to pick up tags in the Kill Confirmed matches. Really fun gamemode; spawns are a bit wack but unsurprising given the size of the maps. Only played one 1v1 so far, got to 12-5 and the other guy raged :wink:

Heh, nah I'm still in England. I've changed the flag a lot, it used to be Egypt once. Changed it for footballing reasons. :biggrin:

If I disappear it would be because I've joined the RAF (or possibly the Fleet Air Arm of the Navy), and I'll let everyone know if that's the case. Currently doing a favour for my old workplace for a few weeks so I'm still in England. I've not been using XBLA "properly" for over two weeks so I should start getting back into gaming. Been playing Trials Evolution though. I'm still after prestige tokens from MW2 and COD4. :teeth:

Heh. I've still not used the LMG on MW3 even though it's my default weapon on COD4. Would have liked to hear if my enemy raged when I used the L86 from sniping distances on Backlot, Pipeline and District. I'd be tempted to use the LMG and perhaps use Scavenger Pro because I think enemy air support would be less of an issue. Then I can eventually get extended magazines and that will be good for other game modes. No need to single handedly destroy AC-130s as may be fewer people will use the random crate award because of small maps and hijacking possibilities. And I'm guessing the maps are pretty small so I'd favour AI controlled killstreaks or quick player controlled ones like predator missiles, unless I go specialist. :smile:

I'm fine with rubbish spawns as I got done over in Pipeline on COD4 from near the start of the match. I was at the top of the mound hill thing to the right of the wall and was killing enemies in the centre of the map an enemy respawned behind me and got a free kill. I did hear the person but checked the HUD and saw a team mate so assumed he'd deal with him or I'll be expecting an enemy in front of me. Not behind me. :rolleyes:

3v3 on the ruins map is really fun with the riot shield.

2v2 is enjoyable as well.

1v1 is generally terrible, you'll get put against players who will sneak around the map happy not to see anyone for about about 2 minutes.

LMG is nice on MW3 but I'd almost be inclined to believe that they've been slightly re-nerfed. After the buff the L86 was absolute madness (I was going something like 54-8 every game) whereas it now feels a lot more balanced (but is still definitely worth using).

Yeah, package rewards are pretty rare on Face Off (possible exception Escort Airdrop, used aggressively), you get a lot of Advanced UAVs, EMPs and such like from Support, as well as Attack Helicopters on assault. I get your drift but I actually had my best ever Reaper on Erosion, the ruins map - not a single shot missed, 9 kills total (Didn't get to fire last shot)! Assault-wise I tend to run Predator, Attack Heli and Reaper, AC-130's really not worth it with 3 man teams. Support I'll take the UAV, Advanced UAV and Recon Juggernaut, which as you can imagine is such a pain in the ass to remove with 2 teammates! :tongue:

Tbh the spawns aren't actually too bad, because as IW are quick to argue, the intention the mode is fast-paced gameplay with little running around to find people. With that said, on Aground I've had people literally spawn in my line of sight :colone:

I never got round to using them when it was buffed but I will still give it a go. I could never work out how to use the Reaper when I first played MW3 (was my first MW game) and eventually found out by dancing around dodging the red marker on the floor on Lockdown between the mini green where the bike is kept and underneath the arch back in the day before I used Blind Eye (Pro). Thanks for the tips. I let red dot hunters come to me. :cool:

Yeah that's the most favoured style for the overall fanbase I guess. Probably why Downturn is so unpopular. If it weren't for the excess grey (no more New York maps please) it would probably be a little more popular. It means people have to make a big effort to kill enemies for a change. I guess it may be better suited for other game modes than TDM. And I could work on the MK14 picking off snipers. :biggrin:

Anyone still play on COD4? Sometimes I get text appearing underneath the HUD in green saying ...:::MAIN MENU::::... or in mulitcolours, or the killfeed colours are massive lettering with red and blue rather than usual. Do these mean hacked lobbies? I've assumed they are but when they appear I power down so as to not get my stats wiped, going by advice I've read on Xbox.com. Mainly happens in Domination rather than TDM.

Finished off a good match and host raged. Kills from the killstreaks count so on Bog I got an airstrike so then I got a chopper straight after. And it was carnage after that. Oh diddums.

Ha I remember my first Reaper, actually my first pointstreak of >7. AS50 on Seatown, got the game-winning killcam by slinging a missile into that circular building that people like camping in, glorious! Yeah my first MW too.

Urgh, Downturn, what a map. Playing Demolition on it convinced me that any map designer incorporating square rooms with desks in them should be shot at dawn! Naturally the excess grey is a pain. I tend to take Specialist with Marksman as my first choice, helps out a lot :biggrin:

I managed to fluke killing an enemy Assault Drone with one on Village once. No idea if Downturn is popular with people who play S&D. Use the subway as a detour to plant the bomb. Would be nice if the tanks on the map were climbable. I know very few people target A plant in Fallen (in the centre of the map) and plant A in Lockdown too. Bit stupid really because bombers can camp in the underpath, use a claymore at one end and then listen out for nearby enemies.

Yeah, they're sweet for taking out pointstreaks as long as the camera pans far enough. I believe you can even take out AC-130s with it if the angle's good. Pave Low's are pretty easy targets. I really don't like Downturn at all :L tend to avoid it where possible.

Ha me and my Demo team plant anywhere :biggrin:

combination of smoke grenades, riot shields, Recon Juggernauts and sniper cover is a winning tactic, forces a lot of rage quits :wink:

Does anyone like any of the Face Off maps? Played round a friend's in split screen mode and Erosion reminds of some place in Gears. Might give it a try since situational awareness is key, so may be having SitRep Pro and using a good headset means lots of kills for me. I won't bother with silencer. Let them come to me. :cool:
