Welcome to the Kings College forum: where prospective and current students can discuss anything about KCL.

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsI kinda guessed as such (: I'm not surprised about the ratio, since it seems like more females than males prefer to read Pharmacy. My first choice is definitely LSoP. Largely because of the school, but also because it's in LONDON.(Original post by Freiheit)
It is a very long story so I will try and make it short
. Kings is part of University of London which hosted the open day in central London. As you might already know, the Strand/Guys and Waterloo campuses from Kings are in South East London so people on the open day were only shown Uni of London ones that were close. I got to see UCL and LSOP in detail but not Kings.
LSOP is a very small uni with a single building but very modern facilities inside such as PC's and the library. During the open day, a lecturer made us prepare cough medicine and his teaching style was amazing, I learned more in that 30 minutes than what I do in college for 2 hours. The Uni is also has a higher ratio of females and everyone knows each other well because there aren't that many students compared to other major universities. LSOP is also merging with UCL in January, what I saw in UCL is another whole long story lol, but it was wonderful.
My first choice is between LSOP and Manchester but Kings is also good.
If you have any more questions, you can send me a message me.

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsI also love London. Anyway, we will see how it goes and hopefully we both get offers from LSOP and all the other choices.(Original post by whitelily29)

Unconditional for Business Management? How is that even possible? IN OCTOBER?
What's the point in having a deadline if they look at applications now? I mean, if they look at applications now and reject those who they deem are not suitable for the course - That would be fine, but accepting applicants NOW - in OCTOBER .. sheesh.
I should have sent my application in September
Congratulations btw

Re: King's College London 2012 Applicants
Hey very new to tsr literally just signed up!
Anyway, sorry to annoy anyone with the 'do i have a chance' question, but i would love to apply to kings however really dont want to waste a choice if i actually dont have a chance!!
So hopefully applying for Geography 2012 probably BSc, but my AS grades have really let me down, Geog (A), Law (B), EngLan (C) i'm also doing an OCR National Certificate in ICT so far i have done 3 modules ; 2 distinctions and a merit.
I am considering resitting one law module but my predictions for A2 i think are around A, A, Dist.
My GCSE's were pretty good, 4 x A* 5 x A and 1 x B
I am also doing the extended project, so what do you guys think, is it worth applying?
(I have emailed kings regarding my ict and if it is accepted, waiting on a reply).
Thanks in advance. -
Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsI'd say you had a very decent chance, but check the criteria for the AS. Your GCSEs certainly are good enough.(Original post by KMatt24)

Re: King's College London 2012 Applicants
Hey there,
So I'm an American applying to the History program.
I have a 2100 out of 2400 on the SAT and have taken 2 SAT subject tests (biology 720 out of 800 and US history 750 out of 800)
I've also taken 2 APs (environmental Science 5 out of 5 and US history 5 out of 5)
I have a 3.9 GPA out of 4.0 and am in advanced/honors classes.
I'm also taking 2 more APs this year (European History and Psychology and I'm predicited to get 5s on both)
Do I have A chance?
I'm apllying by October 15th, will there still be any spots left? Ahhh I'm nervous! -
Re: King's College London 2012 Applicantsdo you mean how it says that all applicants interviewed are made offers (are those the ones you are referring to?) - coz they seem pretty relaxed then if everyone interviewed gets an offer, like it must be more just checking you actually wanna go there right?(Original post by rural_boy)
I think it depends on the course, I know for history they do, if you look at the specific course page on the website, it should say.

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsWell done man, this has got me really excited because King's will almost definitely be my first choice if I get an offer and I don't get into Cambridge. I just wish my school would process my damn reference.(Original post by Bud Fox)

Re: King's College London 2012 Applicants
Hello I know this is specifically for year 13s, but I thought I'd join as I saw a fellow year 12 on this thread. I love the look of Kings I have two questions:
1) Is the set minimum grades AAAB at AS and AAA and A level?
2) For those who went to look around Kings what is it like? (I have a prospectus but still having a prospectus doesn't compare to looking around the uni)
Thanks
*Sorry to intrude in this thread yet again, I just want to start preparing early*

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsQuestion 1 depends on the course you want to study. The best option is to search for courses on their website.(Original post by LunaLee)

Question 2, I haven't been there yet so can't help in this case. -
Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsThe Guy's campus - Medics, Vets and Science - is in an amazing location, just off the Thames. With nearby accommodation (which is amazing value considering it is in central London) and easy tube links. It's always busy and something going on and you'll never get bored in London. It has real city buzz, so if you want a quiet campus it isn't for you, but if you want the city feel, you won't find much better.(Original post by LunaLee)

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsThanks, least I'll know what to expect when I take a tour in 2012. I'm a pure Londoner born and bred so noise sounds good to me(Original post by Jackasaurus Rex)

Re: King's College London 2012 ApplicantsI am hoping to be a journalist (but I'm not studying journalism) so I need to browse the UCAS site when I have a spare hour or two. What are you hoping to study?(Original post by Jackasaurus Rex)
