You're all so lucky, we can't do DofE till Year 11.

We do Sports Leaders awards but the lessons are pretty boring thus far. We get to teach Year 4s next half term which will be fun, I hope.

We've had an English coursework marked so far. I got 38/40 but Miss said my next piece was better and, if it's possible, I'm aiming for full marks.

We have separate science exams in January, on the same day as our school play! I'm going to be really busy with revision and rehearsals

Are you doing Silver then? Or are you just doing it later?

Wow that's really good, well done! I'm getting a piece back (descriptive writing) next week. I'm curious to know what my mark was, but also worried as I don't think I structured it very well .

You'd have thought they could have checked dates so that that didn't happen. What play are you doing? I didn't audition this year, I think I'm going to be too busy, and anyway, I didn't particularly enjoy it last year

Yeah, we do Silver. But I'm really jealous of everyone who gets to do it now

Thanks, English is 'my subject', I suppose. I'm not good at anything else.

It's because it's a 6th Form Play but they have like no girls in the 6th Form so I was asked to do it and I can't be like 'I can't I have GCSEs' because the 6th Formers all have A Levels. But I'm trying to get my lines learnt in Spain next week so I don't have a mad panic in January.

:lolwut: That sucks! Did they have really small classes for all of those or something?

Good to hear Is it with the Scouts?
Well the classes were standard sized for DofE and JSLA (30ish) but they were both REALLY popular. I'd put money on saying that the entire year put atleast one of them in their first two choices (we had 5 options for core PE).

Aaaah, I have a chemistry test tomorrow.
I have one tomorrow too... Last period :coma: I love chemistry though so it shouldn't be too bad :crossedf: and I have revised! Just means that because I've been revising I haven't been doing other homeworks... (yeah, that excuse works )

Tell me how you think it is. It might not be the same as ours, but still. Mine was some AQA thing based on C1a (I think). Most of it was multiple choice and everyone found it quite hard. I'm not sure how the lower sets would have got on, considering that none of my set found it easy and we're set 1.

It's a training Day today so I'm going to try do a few homework's. I'll probably do Spanish and English. They're both long assessment-preparation things, so I may only have time to do that considering that my grandparent's are coming for tea tonight and I need to cook. If possible I'll also try to do my maths homework. Then whatever I don't complete today I'm completing tomorrow. I don't like doing homework during weekday night's, so at the moment I'm doing it all on a weekend. Sometimes there's a lot, but it feels lovely and stress free during the week. xD

    My homework is...

English - Write a first draft of a monologue based on the character of The Clown Punk, in preparation for the controlled assessment after October half-term. Include stage directions. This should be quite easy as I've already got loads of ideas and, with doing drama, monologues come easily to me.

Spanish - Complete writing controlled writing assessment work on holidays. I'll probably go over the 350 word amount, but it apparently doesn't matter and it's fine to do that. There's a lot to include to get the A* I want, but I got A* last year and I'm not sure why because what I wrote wasn't even that complex.

Maths - Two pages in the homework book. No idea what it's on, but I don't want to look as I hate maths and my teacher. -.-

French - Complete a translation paragraph of English-French on A4 paper, ready for peer-assessing next lesson.

Food Tech - Make the pastry case and blind bake it, ready to bring into school on Monday with the ingredients to make Lemon Meringue Pie. I'll do this late Sunday afternoon before tea and X Factor. :L

Music - This is what I've set myself, but I just want to finish the chord composition to lyrics task. I don't know how long miss will give us on Monday and she's making us sing them, too (a bit unfair considering I don't do singing lessons and can't sing in tune/pitch like she expects. I'm also going to get very nervous...).

Re: Current Year 10 Thread (2011/2012)
I never realised this thread existed anyway i think this thread will sort of be like a diary of y10 for me and our fellow y10 pupils.Anyway i got to chose 3 subjects Geography,Business and ICT.I do 9 subjects at school now all at GCSE or GCSE-Equivalent level and they are:

English(3.5 Lessons)-Stressed over this subject i have to do drama + macbeth controlled assessments in December and do English Literature:Prose and Language:Writer's Voice resits in January so stressed- got a C in the language exam so really need to improve that majorly and with so little preparation time only a few weeks is what my teacher suggested for both exams preparation!!!!

Maths(3.5 Lessons)-Not very stressed over this course next assessment is the exam in march and since most of the class haven't passed unit 1 i haven't been learning too much but doing OK nevertheless but still got given Homework for after half term and may get a my maths on top and the re sitters didn't get the homework(it was unit 2 based).

Science(4 Lessons)-I'm doing double science and struggling a bit because some of the concepts do take a bit to understand but hopefully i'll get the hang of things by the time the chemistry and biology,30 min exams, are to be took but with good revision hopefully it will fall into place.I was given homework for science which has to be handed in next week.

ICT(3.5 Lessons)-In ICT,at the moment I'm doing 2 things because i do Core and Extension, I'm creating a multimedia product and storing videos, multimedia aswell as sourcing the sources they came from and I'm also creating products like flyers, leaflets, logos to do with a mock-up task of a y11 French trip.Coping OK hopefully i will get the high grades,i got a low grade for the stuff i did in Y9 but the teacher says i got what was required to ensure the maximum grades are still available.

Business(2.5 Lessons)-I'm currently creating business reports on the different types of business ownership after creating a business leaflet on the business aims at the start of the course.Somehow my reports are font size 12 and 2 and a half pages long compared to most people size 18 font 1 page?

Geography(3 Lessons)-I am currently revising erosion, transportation and for transportation have invented a silly way of remembering the main words:I transported suspended salt solution in a tractor GCSE Geography students you can use this if you can discover it's significance. In the mock for geography,i got an A but it didn't focus ion a ll areas of the topic so unsure about my true potential at the moment.Homework given out for after half term.

RE(1 Lesson)-With only 1 lesson it is hard to get a full grip on the subject but at the moment i'm learning about community cohesion and multi-faith society and these are all about how all religons regardless of their race should be allowed to live in the same society as us and this makes the community cohesion strong and creates a multi-faiuth society. After half term i will be getting a sort of mock test specifically based on this unit so i have been given revision pack and at the moment i intend on using it.

French(2 Lessons)-Although,the lesson can be disrupted there are still opportunities to pick up the vital speaking, writing, listening and reading skills needed for the GCSE.Their will be a speaking controlled assessment in January so i have been practising my speaking and at the moment in French I'm learning about marriages and i read a text on several people who gave there wants/desires for marriage and whether they wanted a big wedding or not.

PE(2 Lesson)-In PE although the majority of practical is not a function of assessment on the course it has got to do with understanding the drills by doing them and it is required to understand the uses and skills that can be taught/learned by certain drills eg.passing through a gate maximises a players accurate passing skills and allows them in real games to pass accurately when the same space similar to gates may be the only available passing space.A gate is an area with two cones either side and is the only place you can pass through and all players must pass through the gate before scoring.

Re: Current Year 10 Thread (2011/2012)
Had to complete a 15 minute History essay on how Hitler consolidate power in class yesterday. My hand was so sore after it , but I got it finished anyway . I hate being under pressure when writing though, so some of the grammar probably didn't even make much sense.
And also, more on topic, I believe my school does Silver and Gold Duke of Ed., starts next year. Is it really physically tough? I'm not very physical at all, but I'm pretty good at logistics and ordering people around xD.

Ha ha, I like to think that I'm pretty competent at reading maps now. I've been on plenty of hikes with Scouts (sure, we got lost three times within the first ten minutes, but we didn't get lost much after that)

    I'm so glad I don't do history

It's not very physical, no. As far as I understand it, there's four sections, Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition (unless you're doing Gold, which has an extra section, Residential) You have to spend three months in two of the sections, and six months in the remaining one, but whichever one you want to spend six months in is up to you. However, if you haven't done your Bronze DofE, then one of the sections needs to be extended to 12 months. For the physical section, you just have to sign up for some sort of club (or you can do it individually, if you prefer) that requires a lot of physical activity. Eg. Any sport would count, but training to be a Sports Leader would not.

The expedition for Silver is really short too. Three days and two nights.

You can see what you have to do here

    Hope that helped

My hands get very sore easily, but it wasn't just the 15 minutes, I got like an hour of free time before the class began in the library so I rewrote it like 3 times. I also spend a little too much time on the computer, so that probably adds to it xD.

And thanks for the info LTC, will look at it later .
