Re: Kent chatYeah... Looking back through the thread, people in the year above us got deposits back, so this must have been the first year. Either way, I think that they should've made it clear from the start and saved all the confusion now.(Original post by Blazara)
This is the first year it hasn't happened, as far as I know - it was probably just instilled in us freshers by accident from talking to previous years

Re: Kent chatI guess so(Original post by AlexInWonderland)
Haha, dispensing drugs / dispensing alcohol, there are similarities
I dispense intoxicating substances regardless
Also regarding your deposits guys, have a look at your room agreements. That will have a break down of what you paid and when. You should have all paid one surely?Last edited by Loz17; 19-06-2012 at 23:17. -
Re: Kent chatI had a look at mine, and it says what I paid for each term, but doesn't mention anything about a deposit. When I emailed them, they said that they didn't charge one this year, but I can't see why they would have stopped charging deposits?(Original post by Loz17)

Re: Kent chatThat's strange. I can't think of any reasons as of why this is the case. I had to last year for mine. If you did pay one they would have mentioned it there. It doesn't mention on the accommodation website about a deposit anymore so I guess you didn't.(Original post by River Shadow)

Prices for all accommodation can be found here but notes that's for 2012/13.
Probably a long shot as to whether you're online soon or not but any ideas?(Original post by VPWelfare)

Re: Kent chatThey didn't mention it on there, so seemingly not... Still mystified as to why they decided not to charge on this year, but still. Surely it's in their interests to charge a deposit for the inevitable damage and so on?(Original post by Loz17)

Re: Kent chatThe time they go up might depend on the department? I know when the graduates' results went up, Politics went up before History did.(Original post by taliman)
Anybody know what time exam results go up on the SDS?
I don't know if Science students know theirs, but the second year Humanities students do (well, in History anyway, not sure about the others), and I assume Social Sciences do (don't really know any second year Social Science students).(Original post by aliluvschoc)
Depends, graduates know theirs, 2nd years know theirs as far as I know.
Hoping first year humanities will come out soon (they should by Monday, but still)... -
Re: Kent chatNope, there's some graduations events next week I believe. Also, as an alumni now you can still enter the Venue with an old KentOne, I think...(Original post by jermaindefoe)
Is the venue shut now forever. Got my graduation next wek, really wanna bump into a particular second year

Re: Kent chat
2nd year sciences are useless
I know some first years got theirs today. I doubt the sciences is the biggest school at the uni so why are they the least efficient?
No clue but you can tell me for next year if you like?
Did you manage to get another ticket for graduation in the end?

I'll let you know
Yep, Sammy's coming!
The hairdesser I had last week (Styles, don't know if you've been? It's on St Lucius street near Belgrave road), she went to her brother's graduation at Kent. The audience apparently all cheer when someone get's a First, and stay silent when they don't. They only announce your classification if you got a first.
I watched some of the ceremonies with a friend, that's definitely true of Psychology

Re: Kent chatPresumably they have more exams than other schools do? From what I can tell, most science modules have exams, whereas in humanities, the number of modules with an exam component is much lower (like I had one module out of seven with an exam this year). Ergo they have more to mark and moderate, hence why they take longer. That's the only possible reason I can think of.(Original post by Loz17)

That's awesome
Not something to be missed really although you'll also have your masters graduation and PhD graduation too (if they do one
)
No I've never been but I know which one you mean - that sounds like fun, at least you know to expect a cheer now
What are you doing over summer anyway?
Yes we have more exams per candidate but with size differences even with max 2-3 exams per student per course I'd imagine it'd still even out in examinations taken. Also science exams are pretty much you're either right or wrong whereas some others outside sciences are less so like that and can be interpreted differently which I guess will take longer. I'm just annoyed that even some first years have got them already, and we're the last people in 2nd year (again) to get them(Original post by River Shadow)

Damn you. I hope you're at least annoying your house-mate about it until tomorrow(Original post by Champagne Supernova)
Got my results today. Passed, so I'm through to my third year

Well done
All that work paid off
Are exam marks up on SDS?
