Re: Applying for BA Journalism 2012 Entry?!
Thought I'd put on that two days after my De Montfort interview I got a conditional offer so if I could get an offer with my terrible interview others can haha!
Had a taster day interview at Solent for Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing on Saturday so just waiting for a decision from them (my first choice so hope I get in!)
Also got an interview at Salford on the 17th January

Re: Applying for BA Journalism 2012 Entry?!You night be enjoying it but it is not the official best course. The order in the National Student Satisfaction survey is:(Original post by robtastic)
Can I just say guys; Nottingham Trent is amazing for journalism! I'm in my first year now doing print journalism and it's ace - officially the best course in the country so I hear... apply here!
1. Sheffiield
2. Winchester
3. City University
4. UCLAN
5. Kingston
6. Bournemouth
7. Cardiff
8. Kent
In terms of employability the leaders by a long way are City University, Winchester, Sheffield and UCLAN.
Winchester is new - so less well known - but it has been BJTC course of the year for the past two years running. It was the first course that was specifically set up with no boundaries between magazine, TV, radio which is why it is doing well. they have a very big website and like 1,000 videos and training videos. Whereever you are applying it makes sense to look at the Winchester material, because it is like a student-level version of the BBC College of Journalism.

Re: Applying for BA Journalism 2012 Entry?!
Had my interview at Winchester. There was ten of us, we had to do a test of what was in the news (I got 7/10) then we were given a newspaper and asked to talk about it. Then there was a long interview with two people who asked LOADS of questions about my personal statement. I was nervous but at the end they sai most people they ask for interview get offers, so fingers crossed. It is def a good idea to look at the blogs of the students who are already on the course and they asked what I thought about that. They expected us to have have found the course website.

Re: Applying for BA Journalism 2012 Entry?!
I have applied for Leeds, Bournemouth, NTU, Sheffield and Lancaster (for english lanugae in the media- not journalism)
And have offer so far from Leeds, Bournemouth and Lancaster.
But I am so torn whether to put Leeds or Bournemouth as my first choice
I have been to both and they are beautiful!
Leeds is obviously an amazing red brick uni, but the course at Bournemouth looks slightly better as it is 'Multi Media' not just broadcast, and they look like they have better facilities for the course, such as, Macs.
Any advice from current journalism students would be great or anyone looking to study in Sep 2012. I think I am in need of others opinions because I literally cannot decide. -

I have also applied for Portsmouth! Did you have to submit a test for Portsmouth?

No basically Portsmouth can suck my bum, they only offered me English Language and Journalism. When I rang up they said I didn't have enough experience in Journalism. Fair enough I haven't really (even though I have a portfolio of A* english coursework which consists of 2 Newspaper articles and an Online piece), but without sounding stuck up I have 2 jobs and study really hard so when do I have time to stop earning money and stop studying to make tea in a newsroom just so I can say on my personal statement "I have also done work experience at my local paper". It just really surprised me because its the lowest grade entry one i've applied to and all the others have given me offers now? Im predicted A*A*B so I thought it was really odd being rejected from a course that takes BBB or even BBC (cant remember), from their entrants.
SORRY I needed to rant!!
What work experience have you had, i'm just curious because they seem to be looking for a specific candidate which obviously isnt me! haha

) young, have been in school/college for the past few years, you have a job like you say, they can't EXPECT you to have work experience already. I would have said 'Well, isn't that what your course is for?!' ...they can't expect everyone to be a fully formed journalist already
I got 5 offers with no work experience and am in my second year at Sheffield now, so I absolutely agree that Portsmouth can suck your bum
Was it your first choice?
