Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
My birthday was bang in the middle of my A2 exams (June 19th) so I didn't organise a party, but then I had a surprise party organised by my friends

However, for my boyfriend's, they all printed out Free Hugs t-shirts and made banners, and went to Leeds (our nearest city) and spent a day giving out free hugs to the general public, which I think is great

Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
Since my parents are split up I had two house parties over my birthday weekend. I had a house party at my dads with his side of family + stepmum's and had chinese, whilst the next night at my mums I had her side of family + my friends over, and got quite tipsy.
Pretty good weekend I thought!
To make it even better, 2 days after my birthday, most of my family and I went to Blackpool for a few days and I bought my first drink - vodka + coke

Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
I went to Glasgow by myself (first time in scotland, big fan) to the Glasgow University open day. Stayed in a youth hostel in the countryside, was lovely. Can't remember whether I actually celebrated it when I came back...Probably didn't really do much. I wasn't big on clubbing and drinking at the time and most of my friends were still 17 anyway. I recommend doing a day trip somewhere (e.g. theme park, shopping in london, beach) or doing a bbq/house party weather pending, or doing something fun like lazerquest/paintball/sumo suits. Try and take into account whether ALL of your friends are 18 (I've been to so many 18's where we all go to the pub only to be refused entry because one of us is under 18 or forgot their id, and then had to spend the night outside roaming the streets).

Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?Well it won't be able to involved 40+ people but my parents got together with my mates parents (our birthdays were only 4 days apart) and booked a table for eight at a really posh restaurant. I chose 3 friends and so did she and we all got dressed up and had a nice expensive meal.(Original post by S_123)
My 18th birthday is coming up in October and I want to do something but I have no idea what! I want to invite about 40+ of my friends but I don't know what to do. So I want to know what other people did for their 18ths and see if I can get any ideas
If you have any suggestions, please tell!
So, what did you do for your 18th?
Edit: I'd just like to add that my friends are all relatively sensible and all girls (I go to an all girls school) so I don't know if a house party would be boring?
On the other hand for our 16th our parents hired out a hall and we had a massive party and invited the whole year from school.Last edited by hippieglitter; 01-09-2011 at 00:35. -
Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
I was the last to turn 18 in my year, in fact i turned 18 yesterday! But it means everyone can come out for my birthday. Im going into town on thursday night with people my friends from that area, and then to a different town on Monday night with people from that area.
People that i know who turned 18 early on in the year have rented out places so that they could invite everyone and people can still drink, which seems a good way to go about things. -

I was on holiday in Ireland, the land of drink. I ended up playing a game called doctors and haircuts with my three year old cousin for the whole night.
sounds fun
basically we did this;
i had a house party with about 60 people, it was AWESOME
don't hire a venue, i went to a lot of 18ths this year, venue parties are awkward and less people go because you can't byob/ they're effort to get to/the dj's are often ****
also it's really obvious when people don't turn up to a party at a venue
if it's at your house then you can pretend it's a small party/gathering
exactly what I'm talking about. So awkward if the room is half empty. -
Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
I hired a room in a club.
My birthday is in september so only about 3 of the people that came were 18! but if you hire a nightclub room, somewhere you would normally go on a night out, because its a private party they tend to serve everyone!
thats if your looking to drink ofc -
Re: What did you do for your 18th birthday?
I collected my A level results (yeah, would have sucked if I'd failed, huh?), went out for lunch with my family, went clubbing that night, went shopping when I got up the next day and then caught a flight to Ibiza with my best friend for a week.
all in all, it was a pretty good time.
