Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
So has anyone performed a lot better at A levels than GCSEs? Is it always the case that your GCSEs indicate what sort of grades you'd be getting at A levels, and that there's usually some sort of correlation?
GCSEs: _____
AS/A level: ____
To those who have improved, I've got huge respect for you. You show that it can be done!
Thanks.

Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
I switched schools for my AS Levels so that's probably a factor but I think my grades were substantially better this year than at GCSE.
Everything is listed in my profile but for convenience:
GCSE: A*ABBBBCCCCCD
AS: AABD with a nice 89% overall in one of them.
My AS levels certainly aren't *fantastic* given the standards of TSR but I'm certainly rather pleased with them. In summary, GCSE grades don't have to define you if you work hard and make the right subject choices

Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
Yes, I got an A at A-Level History, despite only just getting a B in GCSE.
I did actually put some effort in at A-Level though, like most people I was lazy at GCSE.
Also my GCSE to A-Level grades improved, yet again it was through just more effort, I really regret messing around at GCSE but I'm glad A Level turned out well:
GCSE: BBBBBBCCC
A-Level: AABLast edited by mellie220; 01-09-2011 at 16:55. -
Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
I switched from a school to a college GCSE results lots of C's and B's and stuff all my A-Level results were BBB so I think that's a substantial leap considering how much harder A-Level is, I worked a lot harder though aswell, in all my A2 exams I also got grade A's too.

Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
Here are my grades:
GCSE: A*A*A*A*A*AAAA
AS: AAAAB
For me it has been consistant (as you'd expect) but I put WAAAAAAAAAAY more effort into A levels. Getting 95% on Mathematics AS whereas I barely just made the A* in GCSE maths.
My friend however has this:
GCSE: AAABBBBBBBCC
AS: ABCC
So he resat all his AS's in A2 year and came out with:
A*AA .
A* in maths. A in chemistry and A in biology.
I do hope people arent put off with GCSE's! That guy did it! why cant you!? -
Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?wow that's quite impressive, well done! what was the reason behind the B ~ laziness?(Original post by Normandy114)
I'd say I have, for example I got a B at GCSE Chemistry, but I'm on 261/300 UMS for my AS, and that's only really because my coursework drags it down, 120/120 and 100/120 in the unit exams. -
Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?Wow, congratulations. How did you do that?(Original post by TheUltimateProof)
GCSEs:ABBBCCCCC
AS level: Physics (96%), Maths (95%), Further Maths (90%) and Economics and Business (85%)
Think I changed a little to say the least xD

Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?Yeah, I was lazy and had no ambition during GCSEs so didn't revise, but started working hard when I got into sixth form.(Original post by Obscenedilemma)

Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
My GCSEs were pretty good, a mix of A*, A and B grades.
Managed to get A*A*A at A-Level, to the surprise of most of my teachers since I was predicted lower. I am particularly proud of turning my grade B in English Lit at AS into an A* at A2. The look on my tutor's face was something else, especially since she had already told me a number of times before that it would be impossible for me to achieve and was well beyond my abilities. **** off. -
Re: Has anyone done better at A levels than GCSEs?
I did better at A level, as I had much more of a focus and an idea of how competitive it can be trying to get into uni. My secondary school was crap, with hardly any students actually going on to further study, so I didn't realise what grades I should be aiming for really and ended up coasting along until it was too late.
GCSE; A*AAABBBBCCCCC
A Level; AAB. -
