Okay, so I'm a bit worried about applying for Manchester due to my grades. I'm definitely one of those people who didn't discover a passion for learning until A levels - my GCSEs were pretty average. I got 5 As, 4 Bs & 3 Cs. My AS results feared slightly better, with an A (somehow got full ums?) in Sociology, 2 Bs in English Language and History and a D in Biology (oh dear Beth). I've been predicted 3 As for A level, due to only being 2 ums off an A in BOTH English Language and History - devastated! My question is this, being brutally truthful what do you think my chances are for applying to study Sociology at Manchester. The entry requirements are BBB and I do have a pretty sweet personal statement, I'm just in two minds on whether that'll be enough ...

Well I got BBD at AS and I'm predicted BBC, MAYBE ABC. My GCSEs were AAAABBBBCC and i'm applying to manchester...for german. entry requirements are ''ABB-BBC''. It says minimum grade C at GCSE english, nothing about A*s. If they wanted a certain number of A*s it would say

I'll be applying for Classical Studies! Entry requirements are ABB-BBB, so it'd probably be my lowest offer.

    GCSE: 2A* 7A and a B
    AS: Classical civilisation(A) Religious Studies(A) French(B) English Lit(C, Resitting)
    Predicted: A*A*AA

Haven't seen anyone applying for classics yet!

    I'm applying for economics

GCSE's are not the best 5A's 2B's 4C's and 2 distinctions in ICT

    AS results A: economics 98%
C: maths 69.7% (gonna resit a couple modules)
D: government and politics 59%(gonna resit one module)

    my predictions are A*(economics) A(maths) B(politics)

Manchester are asking for AAB so I hope I have a chance

I'm thinking of applying to Economics. But have to ask, how did you get predicted those grades, especially for Maths and Politics from your AS results?

I got predicted a A and B for maths and politics because I was so close to the boundary so I basically got and B and C
I'm also resitting a couple modules as well

I would advise you to get that put in your reference, because at first glance A*AB predictions from ACD looks massively inflated, and will send alarm bells ringing.
