Re: After telling someone the degree you study, what is their response?Lool you should of said what university do you even go to. You are currently at the 6th best uni in the UK lool. Don't you feel happy people use their time to think and reply about your life. Like a mini celeb eh(Original post by screenager2004)
It was hilarious. 1am, he sent messages and messages paragraphs bashing my degree, the whole time I just said "I really don't care what you say, I'm doing just fine and you criticising me won't change my opinion of my own degree" to which he kept saying "you can't even defend yourself lolololol" then three hours later I got a very solemn apology from him.

Re: After telling someone the degree you study, what is their response?Well, do you?(Original post by Philbert)
"So, what are you studying"
"Microbiology"
Gets one of the following responses:
"Oh.. right"
"Sounds... interesting"
Or once, from a relative: "So what do you do, poke around in poo all day?"
Yes, yes that's right.

"What do you study?"
"International Relations"
"Oh, what's that?"
"Just think of it as politics but a bit different"
This is usually followed by either:
"Do you want to be an MP?" or "I bet you've had a fair few international relations"
Yeah...
One of the reasons I switched from IR to Politics. Got sick of the blank looks tbh.Last edited by Bubbles*de*Milo; 02-09-2011 at 00:56. -

It tends to be one of three:
"You're a braver girl than I am!"
"Good for you, amazing job!"

Re: After telling someone the degree you study, what is their response?
'Oh, so you want to become a French politician, hey? I bet you've heard that a few times' Well, yes I have so WHY ARE YOU SAYING IT!?!
Or...'Oooooh, so you're going to work at the UN then?'
'Oh. I was never any good with languages at school. I really wish I was though. *go on and on about how they would've done things differently...yawn*'
'Oh...that sounds...interesting'
'That's an odd mix, isn't it?'
Tbf, a had far more annoying responses during A-levels. I did one science. One. The majority of people still said 'Oh so you want to be a doctor then?' ****ing no, have you forgotten about the other 2 subjects I'm studying?!

Re: After telling someone the degree you study, what is their response?I often get people looking pretty impressed or saying 'wow that sounds good/hard/interesting' ... I think its because my degree title is pretty long. It sure beats 'pfft what can you do with THAT?' that many specialist fine art people get...

Often people say "Oh, you must be very clever" to which there is no good response.
"So my professors implore me."
Yes, yes that's right.
