If the UK became a republic tomorrow, what would the national anthem be?

If the UK became a republic tomorrow, what would the national anthem be? Of course it's not going to happen, but what if ?

I reckon someone would put words to the Harry Potter theme tune and that would be our anthem.
I want it that way - Backstreet boys
Tbh, it'll go on about diversity rather than British culture.

Scotland might be a bit miffed off about that. Land of Hope and Glory or Rule Britannia probably, they don't seem to have any monarchy references.
Something that truly represents the british population. Vindaloo?

Our current tune would work:

God save Day Vid Cam Run
Long live Day Vid Cam Run
God save Cam Run
Send him victorious
Long to reign over us
God save Cam Run

Change the words each time we get a new boss.
Well, I say we just steal the old Soviet Union anthem as they're not using it any more:

I would suggest Rule Britannia, but someone would probably complain.

Vindaloo would be an amazing national anthem. It's pretty much our unofficial anthem anyway (well, every 2 years)

Let the faggots complain, it would be an awesome anthem.

National Anthems tend to be bombastic and nationalistic - that's their purpose after all! I don't see the Social Democrats or Die Linke in Germany complaining about Deutschesland Uber Alles tbh and I suspect most members of Labour would be react about the same.

EDIT: I was wrong :frown:

God damn the queen?
Get Tony Blair as UK President, and the national anthem as "Things Can Only Get Better" by D-Ream.

Why Blake's masterpiece is not currently England's national anthem I have no idea.

I would also change Wales' anthem to 'Canon lan', but the Scots can keep Flower of Scotland provided they promise that it will always be accompanied by rolling drums and the bag-pipes

No? :P
I was going to ask, 'what's wrong with God Save The Queen?'
