Information Management for Business At UCL?
Hello,
is anybody studying this degree at UCL?
If so please could someone give me the lowdown on the degree, in terms of links with future employers and just general teaching?
Also if you did get in i would love to know your grades and what you studied?
As a final question, is the programming element of the course comprehensive and do people start with no prior knowledge of the world of programming, as i have tried it before and really struggled!
thanks for your time -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?
Hello, I am also applying for this course to now, intact my application for UCAS was sent the other day.
From what i hear from the admin tutor, is that the first year isa foundation year and will teach the basics to everyone, I am the same as you, i don't have any programming experience, but then again uni is for learning new things.
What Grades as AS Level as GCSE you applying with ?
Good Luck !!1 -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?
hello,
cool to hear you are in the same position, and i am sending my application this week!
i am studying economics, business, sociology and english lang and also general studies if that counts, i am predicted A*ABB and at gcse i have 1 A*, 7A's 4C's
I am mainly applying to management courses but UCL looks really good and the course looks quite fun.
what is your situtation in terms of grades etc.
good luck to you too! -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?
My application was sent to UCAS for processing today actually, I don't think general studies counts as a A Level to replace another subject, but its really cool that you do it, we don't have the option to do it.
I am predicted A* A A and doing Economics, Business and ICT
GCSE's were 2A*'s and 8A's .
Yes i am in love with this course, I have always wanted to combine ICT and Business together, and this is the only top uni in the Ul top 5 which offers such a course,
I am also applying to Warwick, Oxford Brookes, City and Brunel.
Which uni's are you applying to ? -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?
Yeah i know they don't accept it, but we do like 2 lessons a week for it and just sit the exams so its not really an issue. And apparently numerous times when people dont meet grades they can say but i got an A in general studies and they might let you in. Might be a ploy for people to go to lesson though

Wow your grades are ace, i am a little worried about my GCSE grades with the 4c's because i could never do sciences so i did pretty badly.
Really wish i had the option to do ICT i think i would of been good at it and in terms of this course it will look really good.
What course are you applying for at those unis?
I sent mine off last night, applied for;
Lougborough
UCL
Exeter
Durham
Sheffield
Also, what was your personal statement like, are you happy with it?
cheers and good luck -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?
Hey,
In all the universes I am applying for courses like Business Computer Systems, or Information technology management for Business, all Business and IT related courses.
My personal statement I think was very good, had a lot of stuff about my employment in IT firms etc and my Young Enterprise company start up.
I also have an interview with Oxford Brookes, and I have arranged it for next week as i will be in the UK touring my universities.
Good luck on your application, have you received any confirmation emails yet ? -
Re: Information Management for Business At UCL?Yeah i think it would be, but i am very sceptical over the interview, i have little knowledge on IT really, other than like the basics, so i am worried i won't be able to speak enough about it :/(Original post by jvictor)
Wow, congratulations. Hope it all goes well
I actually got an offer from UCL at the end of November. Very excited, would UCL be your first choice if you got an offer ?
well done on your offer, you going to put it as your first choice? -
Hi, i was also in the same position as you were before as I had an offer from Warwick and UCL, whilst UCL and Warwick both are very IT based. In my view, when I compared both courses, I found UCL to be more business oriented where as WARWCK was more maths/ science based.
I suppose with that it's up to you what area you would like to be more specialised in.

Re: Information Management for Business- UCL
Hello everyone,
I'm an international student starting to study in UCL next year, got an unconditional offer to the IMB course.
I was wandering what is the knowledge level in math that is expected of you during the course? precalculus. calculus?
Just want to know so I can prepare myself..
If anyone have some information regarding the math level that is required for surviving this course I'll be happy to hear from him...
Thanks!!
