The stationery and organisation thread! :D
Discussion for current and prospective students about social life at university, societies, what stationery and bedroom items to buy and anything else relating to life as a university student.

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :D
Bought some lovely Oxford paper which was on discount in Staples, it is the best paper around

also finding it hard to look for a planner/diary thing, looked on moleskine, artbox, paperchase and other local places and have found nothing!
also stocked up on my favourite rollerball pens from my old college shop as they're discounted
how people can write with biros (especially blue
is beyond me!)

Just bought me and my sister one of those Palgrave student planners. Her school decided to stop giving out planners for some reason...

I don't mind biros tbh.
I have a huge issue with blue pens though! I remember cheering when the black pen exam regulation happened.
You can try Amazon for planners. -
Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DHaha yes, I just don't see how anyone can enjoy writing in blue, it's such an eyesore on the page, black looks a lot neater <3(Original post by diamonddust)

I've tried Amazon and nothing took my fancy, although maybe I'm just too fussy. When I was in a French supermarket in August and they had all their back to school planners in then I knew I should have got one! They always have the best

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DThat's kind of awesome! I wish they sold one without the paper though....(Original post by maloneyt)

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DYeah I was going to get the 5 refill pads bundled for like 3/4 quid or something.. but then I checked the paper, and I don't like it! I hate writing on **** quality paper :/(Original post by velocet)
Tesco have Oxford Refill Pads half price as well btw - 70 sheets for £1.25
EDIT: Okay my bad! I didn't read what you wrote carefully enough! lol. I thought you meant the actual tesco branded refill pads.. they are ****e! But oxford refill pads are amazing!
I shall check this offer out

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DI've never tried Oxford paper, I just saw someone say it's decent. I think when I saw it a couple years ago it was narrow ruled so meh. I'll stick with my John Lewis paper.(Original post by iHeartCookies)

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DAww gutted(Original post by Nag o ma Scylla)
I do know what you mean but I think they're pretty difficult to get, as they're the sort of thing that schools buy in bulk from specialised educational suppliers - just had a look online and Staples seems to have nothing. I checked the place that used to supply the stationery for my primary school
and I think this is it, but you have to get them in packs of five and it costs £21.99; I don't suppose that's any good!
Edit: and you can't buy from them anyway unless you're a business, it appears ...
Guess I'll just have to stick with refill pads
Hmm, I don't think there are any wilkos up here in Scotland :|... I was down in England this summer, if I knew I would have got some(Original post by lpassby)
Wilkinson's sell loose paper but it's pretty rubbish quality... I used it for revision purposes during A-levels
Next stop... Rymans!
Thanks!

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :D
I spent £12 on Pukka Pads.
TWELVE GREAT BRITISH POUNDS ON PAPER?!
That said, it was worth every penny. No other paper is so white and thick and has those convenient perforated edges
Also thanks to this thread, an Palgrave planner is en route to my house :P
Top tip: WH Smith and Staples/ Ryman will rob you blind. Go to Wilkos, you can get everything you need at a decent quality for a fraction of the price! The only things I didn't buy from there are a diary and paper because I wanted real good stuff. They even have the stablo highlighters and those coloured fineliners that everyone likes :P -

.. I just read that OP wrongly
I thought they meant tesco's own paper lol

Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DLove this thread
My dad works for Palgrave Macmillan and last year managed to get me one of those academic planners for free, they're awesome
I am a complete stationery nut, my auntie bought me enough notepads to last for my entire time at uni as a leaving present and I'm actually pretty gutted that I won't need to buy a notepad this year!
Sounds sad but I guess you all understand
I have a lovely bright pink lever arch folder, it's massive and I use it for all my different modules, using dividers each semester. And I have an amazing pink & red flowery mid year diary from Saisburys, I did have a moleskine last year but I didn't use it much so I couldn't justify spending £15ish on it this year. The one I have was on sale and £1.99, oh yeah
I'm really looking forward to going back to uni, there's something wonderful about studying and using all this cool stationery. (Yes I am a big geek teehee) -
Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DYes! Doing maths too as a combined course. Staples do one that's 600mm x 400mm (not far off A2 - 594mm x 420mm) for £7.99 (it says £4.99 on the website but I phoned up my local store and asked because it varies with VAT not displayed etc). It has a pine edge and is not magnetic but that's the one I'm planning on getting(Original post by Keckers)
Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably big (about A2 sized) whiteboard? Either high street shop or internet is fine.
I usually do everything in notebooks but I find going through more difficult maths on whiteboards is much easier.
In other news, so glad I found this thread: I went in Tesco's yesterday and they were selling off all the Back to School stuff for ridiculously cheap!
Ringbinders for 15 p (so I bought their remaining stock, ahem), Sharpies and Berol pens for about 50p for a 4-pack, and so much more, I was in stationary heaven! I'd gone in to buy a pastel set of these:
... yeah, they do a pretty pink pastel 6-pack
I'd already bought the normal 10-pack! and was expecting to pay £2.50 (reduced from £6) as I'd seen them the other day. They were 62p! And the little 4-pack for about 50p which in my entire life of worshipping these fineliners I have never seen
So many things, yesterday was a good day. -
Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :D
Just got back from Tesco where I bought 6 of these http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Produ.../?id=270646669 (in pink) for 87p each

... I hope the link works. -
Re: The stationery and organisation thread! :DHaha, I'm not doing maths, doing engineering which seems to have quite a few maths and applied maths modules.(Original post by Temeraire.lee)
Yes! Doing maths too as a combined course.
Thanks for the suggestions
