    Are you international as well?

    Best of luck to you!!
    No not a school leaver.
They've said that I am still on waiting list for 2012 entry but if noone declines/withdraws then I have a conditional offer for 2013/14 entry.

    hey guys

I had my interview back in decemeber and then got put on waitting list in november.
Between december and now (march) I received all my other rejections from other unis (just got my last one yesterday).

Today got an email from sgul saying that Im am stll on waiting list for 2012 but they have offered me a place for defferrred entry in 2013.
Im not gapping and really want the place this year. My track hasnt updated or anything

SO does this mean I have an offer for 2013 (if i get the grades) but I am still on waiting list for 2012?
Please just gotta do medicine this year.. spent all night crying that there was no hope and then got this email please help me...
Hey first of all, I know how you feel about thinking there's no hope... but look on the brightside - you haven't gotten a rejection yet! Hang in there dude because not all is lost I know waiting to find out can be one of the worst things ever, but just stay calm and get your mind off things

Secondly, why exactly do you feel that you absolutely HAVE to do med this year? Think of it this way - if the worst case scenario happens and you get deferred to 2013, atleast you dont have to go through the pressure of applying through UCAS all over again, or having to stress over ukcat and interviews and stuff... You will have already gotten your place is the thought of staying behind whilst everyone else is at uni getting you down? I have had friends who hsve had to take gap years, and whilst it seemed horrible at the beginning, they quickly realised it actually wasn't all that bad you'll most likely find some kind of job and earn a fair bit before starting uni! That's defo got to be a plus

As for your question - yes, you are from the looks of it still on the waiting list but if you don't get through you will definitely have a place for next year

i didnt apply to st georges and i know this is a bit late but i submitted an FOI to them and i discovered something interesting

    e) UKCAT was not used in selection pre-interview in either cycle,
although applicants were required to undertake the test for research
    regarding future use.

Hey well at least you got a spot either way! Medicine is extremely competitive so even just getting a spot is incredible.

And hey, there's still people who got accepted to SGU who are waiting on other universities for their choice. You never know

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what happens if you don't meet the conditional offer? Or if you slightly miss it?

Do they automatically reject you or do they reassess your application? Does anyone know of anyone who hasn't met their conditional offer?

I realize that it's Medicine so it's probably extremely competitive....

The UKCAT was used during this year because it you had a score which was less than 625 then it meant you got rejected.

All offer are subject to conditional requirements being met which is to say your grades, and since they know not everyone will meet them or they might have Insured SGUL as opposed to firming them, they will give out a fair few more offers than they have seats. Meaning if you miss it, they are under no obligation to accept you as there are a many others to take over/ waiting list candidates who get put in based on available seats left - though, that's rarely ever even 1 or 2 people.

The basic protocol is to contact them. Your track won't update if you miss it straight away (if you make your offer it will change though) so you have a chance to get on the phone ASAP to the uni and try talking to admissions. They do this because of potential remarks bringing up your marks enough to meet your grades - as long as you have the required grades by 1st of September IIRC then you are fully entitled to your offer, remarks or not.

However, if remarks don't push you up to the required grades, then your only hope is to bargain with admissions but as I said, if you don't meet your conditions, they are perfectly able to reject you. And really, unless the candidate is particularly note worthy for some reason, I don't see why they would bend over backwards to accept them especially seeing as the uni gets a fee for every candidate over their number of seats, hence the strict competition and inflexibility on offers being missed. So its not a pleasant situation to get in.

Rather than worry about it though, I'd say go all out on your work from hence fourth. You've got your offer, don't let a grade stop you from getting in after working so hard this far and going through the grueling A100 UCAS application. So yea, I'd just say don't even think about missing your grades, just make them happen.

Ask them what place you are on the waiting list (they are done interviewing now, Thursday was the last day they told us) and depending on that see what you will do.
With the tuition increase which will affect you from now on, getting a gap year may be nice, it will give you chance to save some money up and enjoy life before med school.

    Good Morning all!

I've received my deferred offer yesterday for next year! (2013/2014)

I was in a state of shock when I got this because in my head I assumed it was all over for me (3 rejections from the others)

So if you're on a waiting list or just waiting for replies, keep your head up and just focus on getting As in summer. There is hope!

    Good Luck people.
