What's the big deal with Bleach anyway? I've never watched it but people seem to talk about it like it's the holy grail of anime, so what gives?

Haven't watched bleach in a while now. Got pissed with how the story was being dragged out pfft :unimpressed:
But it's an awesome series no doubt.

Saving Rukia isn't the dragged out part that takes the piss!
EDIT: Also, given that Bleach is currently at almost 350 episodes, I'd suggest you do Death Note first. You really won't regret it!

There was a big discussion about Bleach in last week's 'Weeky Manga Recap'

Basically, avoid the more recent chapters of the manga. I've heard the anime is alright, though.

Bleach is alright. It's manga is constantly ranking lowly in the weekly Jump in Japan though. Kubo seems to be dragging the story out. Stop with the fillers Tite!

I'm going to start watching Bleach soon, I only got though about 6 episodes of Deathnote because I found out how the storyline played out and thought it sounds crap so stopped watching. I hope Bleach lives up to my expectations.

    Pretty much this.

OP: Be prepared for later disappointment. But for now, enjoy it. It's still one of my personal favorites.

I started watching Bleach, it's addictive but the secondary characters are so generic and their character development in the first few series is piss poor.

    Naruto ftw.

If you thought death note had a bad storyline then you will never watch anime again after bleach

Bleach is a very good anime and the manga even more. Death Note is a smarter series though you ll get to see more battles if thats what you are interested in..

I choose plot over battles. Battles are too childish for me to enjoy much although truly epic battles like in full metal alchemist and gantz were good.

I love Bleach.. The fillers do go on a bit, and are kinda annoying as they don't pay any attention to what has happened in the original story line.. but i still think its good. When i first started watching it I could watch loads of episode at once.. but now i have to wait every week for them to come out!

The start of bleach is amazing, however after so long you will be hit with filler after filler and I warn you they are horrible and last for a long time, longer than the main sagas in some cases.
