Let me answer that, and see what other people think as well.
First off, it is contrary to the terms of your contract, if you get caught you will be thrown out.
There will be 7 other people living in the flat - they might not be too keen on having a non-paying 9th person around all day and night.
The rooms are tiny, with a single bed and only one chair. Storage space is designed for one.
And what will she do all day while you are at lectures, working etc? Or will she have a job of her own?
I think you are mad to be even considering it.

shes gonna get a job but yea ur right, ah well lol it was a nice dream lol

It does not need to be just a dream, it would be quite easy for you to get a house together in Lancaster, especially if one of you is working.
Why not have a look at LUSU housing and see if there is anything you can do that is legal and practical?
And all the best, whatever you decide. Hope you are looking forward to coming to Lanc, it is good here.

To be honest, living off campus isn't that bad... well so I've been told. If you like the nightlife, then its good to be rihgt there in town, and it doesn't take that long to get onto campus. There's also far more room... I considered moving off campus to get a living room, but the prospect of 9am lectures made me stay on... i'm just not a morning person!!!

With the societies, do you have to pay per week? Are they expensive ( inkow the cost varies but whats the average cost). Oh and are they well timetabled/after lecture times? Theres three I want to join, so am just wondering whether it will be pricey/hard to manage.

I think most societies you pay to join, and that is all for the year. Some you pay termly, and there might be some with weekly subs. But none of them are very expensive - £10 - £30 for the year-ish. Obviously it depends on how expensive it is to run the society, if they have to hire space in the Sports Centre or theatre, if they buy specialist equipment for example, it will be dearer.
There is a timetable of when societies meet on the LUSU website. Most of them are after lectures, evenings or weekends.
Three societies is manageable if they are all once a week, but some socs are more often, some have extra training or practice sessions, matches, socials and outings. Most people join a load in Freshers' Week, then drop out of the ones they can't handle and concentrate on the one or two that they enjoy and fit in with their workload and social life. Like most things at Lancs, it's all quite easy going and flexible.
Living on campus, and not driving, I would have to say that the bus service is excellent. You can get a yearly buss pass for about 150 ponds, I think, but not having one I could be waaaay off... In short, I think it would be far easier, and far cheaper just to use the bus. Otherwise you have to pay for the upkeep of your car, and the parking permit on campus, which will invariably be on alexandra park, and miles and miles away from everything.

Yep, my friends who live off campus and have cars never bring them onto campus, they leave them at home and get the bus. They use the car to get to work or home, and for shopping trips and days out etc.
The bus service is really good and I have never not had a bus turn up on time (or within 5 mins of it). The bus pass is £175 per year and it entitles you to free bus travel throughout the lancaster region (morcambe, preston etc) for all 3 terms and the mid-semester vacations (easter etc). You can buy a termly one for like £70 but it only works in that termtime, no hols. I have had a bus pass since the start of the year and i have easily had 2x its value out of it... But then again i do live off campus. Its just convenient as well...
I read somewhere in the mature student info that very little teaching takes place on Wed afternoons. Not sure if it's specifically for sport.

Student houses are all over the town but they do tend to be concentrated in certain areas, where the cheaper housing is, you see. If you look on LUSU housing web page, it gives you a good guide to the student areas of the town. But I don't think any of them are miles from the bus service - it really is a very good city for buses!
As for Wednesdays, most departments are indeed lecture free on Wednesdays, and sports do take place. The only exception I know of is that some intensive science type courses (like Biomedics) sometimes have praticals on Wednesday afternoons.

Oh Lord, please don't take my word for it! I just have a vague recollection of some of my sciency friends not always being able to do things on Wednesdays.
There will be a much more reliable source of information somewhere!

LOL! It doesn't really bother me either way, tbh. I hadn't even heard of the Wed afternoon thing 'til a couple of weeks ago

I do know of quite a few people (including moi) who have wednesday entirely off... my biological friends all have at least the afternoon off... even physics does, and they seem to go 24/7...

whats the DJ scene like in Lancaster? I'm an amateur musician and do a little bit of djing, so im wondering will there be many opportunities for me to do this . Also whats it like for bands, as i also play guitar and piano
Each JCR has college dj positions, so you could possibly run for a position on your JCR as DJ. But there are a few places in town that may have vacancies. A lot of the bars on and off campus have open mic nights for budding musicians - so you could pop along to them...
heya im a 'mature student' (im only going to be 22) whos has a conditional for this september and im basically wondering about the general job situation and how easy it is for 1st years to get one?
When are you asked to apply for a College? I accepted an unconditional offer a while ago, but haven't heard anything about accomodation/colleges yet...
