Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 Applicants
Hey guys, just found this on their up to date (2012 entry) version of their website regarding the interview situation:
"Selected mature (non-graduate) and international applicants for BM5 and international applicants for BM4 will be interviewed. All selected BM6 applicants must also attend interview and satisfy two eligibility criteria. Graduate and international applicants are not eligible to apply for the BM6 programme. As part of the selection procedure, we may require selected applicants to take part in an interactive activity."
so i guess most of you (incl me!) wouldn't be interviewed if we got through to the equivalent stage. Also, their apps per place is interesting:
"Intake: 206 (BM5), 40 (BM4), 30 (BM6)
Average applicants per place: 14 (BM5), 26 (BM4), 14 (BM6)"
........I'm going for BM4 entry - *GULP*
Got it all from http://www.soton.ac.uk/study/undergr...medicine.shtml -

That's good - well done
yeah, I can't blame you :P the UKCAT was stressful, but at least the BMAT has some science in it and it has some ethics too, so my A levels are kind of relevant aha
I can't wait to hear back from any of the unis, but Bham are already giving out interviews which kinda scares me
...I just hope I get one
ahh, hopefully you'll get some familiar questions then
Best of luck with it
I'm just glad it's one less thing I have to worry about

Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 ApplicantsOffers sent out Feb/March(Original post by Erotas)
How long do Southampton take to get back to BM5 applicants? -
Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 ApplicantsOkay thank you!(Original post by oldbatty)
Offers sent out Feb/March -
Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 Applicants(Original post by oldbatty)
Offers sent out Feb/March
so does this mean we won't hear if we'd been rejected until February/March? -
Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 ApplicantsNo, it's probably because more people attend non-private schools, so more people from non-private schools apply, so more non-private schools get places. If that makes sense.(Original post by Erotas)
On the website it says that in a class of 100, 85 will be from state (non-private) schools. So this means going to a private school is a disadvantage?

Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 ApplicantsOh that makes sense! Thanks(Original post by liviaaa)

Re: Southampton Medical School 2012 ApplicantsWell considering only 7% of pupils go to private schools, yet 15% of Southampton medics went to private schools it looks unlikely to be a disadvantage...(Original post by Erotas)
