Foreign Exchange
I am very unlucky today. Today I visit a money changer and was given 4.845 to buy £. I pay the required amount and receive the UK £. Later, I discovered that a few of the notes are defaced and go back to the money changer for clean notes. The money changer says that all their £ are like that. I asked for a refund. The money changer did exchange the money back but at the rate of 4.785. Now, I make a loss within the day just by visiting the money changer. Can money changer do that and get away? Does that mean they make extra monies from issues on defaced notes? I wanted to report to the police and the central bank but they can sometime be slow and unreliable. Also, since my trip to UK is around the corner, I would not want to end up in a situation where I may be held back if the report receive attention and require my assistance.

P/S: They also say that all the £ notes they have in hand and sold to customer are like that (defaced). But some notes which they sell to me are clean notes.Last edited by borg; 07-09-2011 at 11:59.
