Gross or Net income?

    I am applying for my student finance. I am now at the point where my parents are supporting my application and they are required to enter there income for the tax year 2009/2010. Do I enter Gross or Net surely it will be income after tax and NI because different people pay different amounts of tax etc. Please can some one help me.
