Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012
I'm in year 10 at the moment, but I'm doing modular course so I will do half my GCSE's this year, and other half in year 11 so they'll all get added up to give me an overall score. So far I have done my statistic exam and I've got an A. But there's a higher chance of me getting mostly A's, then me getting at least one A*
I will try my best though, but I doubt I will. But I'm confident at getting all A's in A-Levels and good work experience
would it still matter?

Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012Dont worry too much about gcses mate. I got an offer with 2A* 5A 3B.(Original post by hopingtobeadentist)
Wow, all you guys got extrememly good GCSE's
I will definately not get 10 a*'s and ****. That is really good, but even if I don't have any a*'s in GCSES, would I still be able to get in?
You'll have to do well in your ukcat to make up for below average gcses. Kings basically look at a combination of both your gcses and ukcat. -

Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012I contacted the administrations office, they said you need extremely good work experience. Just try to have a variety. But what you've learnt from them is what matters the most to them.(Original post by Endodontics)
How much emphasis do they place on work experience and voluntary work? -
Really?!?! I was speaking to one of the kings dental school representatives during the British dental exhibition in Manchester and they said that they don't really care about we, its just for you to realise if dentistry is a job for you...(Original post by hopingtobeadentist)

Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012All the unis are different, kings and bham put a lot of emphasis on gcses, sheffield look at work experience a lot and some look at ukcat highly, like barts..have a look around at which unis you prefer and try and do the best you can in your gcses and ukcat cos this'll put you in a better position, but with a good amount of As, if the rest of your application is strong you'll be in with a good shot..hope this helps(Original post by hopingtobeadentist)

Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012
I wouldn't obsess about what others did in WE when you do yours you will have plenty to talk about. It more about observation and assessment of dentistry as a career then a long list of I dids...
Kings tend to ask questions that you could only answer if you have really done the WE and they don't ask what did you do, because the reality is all you will do is spend days observing and hopefully asking questions. There is very little a dentist will let you do. -
Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012Can you tell me in which subjects you've got them grades?(Original post by hopingtobeadentist)

Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012Google e.g. ''Leeds Dentist PCT'' and a list should come up. Start going down the list and ring each one until one says yes.(Original post by Sumble.R)
Hey, I got 8 A's and 2B's at GCSE, all sciences were a's and I'm thinking of going into dentistry but I'm having trouble finding work experience. Can anyone help me?? -

I've tried lots of clinics but not many do work experience. How much work experience for dentistry is required? -
Re: King's College London Dentistry Applicants 2012Leeds was just an example, do it for London.(Original post by Sumble.R)
