Re: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Yes, really looking forward to it. I like period pieces and I've heard nothing but good things about the book. The cast is superb; Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ciarán Hinds.
If it's good, it will have a big presence at the Oscars. -
Re: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
My boyfriend is really hyped for it... I haven't heard much about it apart from what he's said (I prefer to keep the suspense with films and even try to avoid trailers if I can), and it's one of my dad's favourite books, so I'm off to see it on the 16th... I hope it's good!

Re: Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyHe has not won any 'big' awards for his acting has he? He's a consistently good actor.(Original post by Nucleolus)
Seeing it on the 16th, it has one of the best trailers I've seen. I'm curious to see Gary Oldman's take on Smiley; reading the reviews, he looks set for an Academy Award nomination. -
Re: Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyNo he hasn't, he's been nominated quite a lot for the smaller awards, but has never been nominated for an Oscar (I guess that's because quite a few of the films he's been in haven't done his acting abilities justice). Hopefully that'll change with Tinker, from watching a few of the clips he looks like he could give Alec Guiness a run for his money...(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)

Re: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
So what is everyones opinion on it?
I went to see it on the 16th and thought it was excellent! I thought every part was played really well and that there was enough intensity in the film to detract from the fact that it's a thriller with not much action (which I thought might be a bit off putting for some people, but I didn't mind).
Anyway, I thought 2 hours was about right to see the story through and I'm planning on dragging a few uni mates to go and see it again
But fingers crossed
