This is illegal you know? If you were to live in someone else's name it would mean all your damages of the room and kitchen would go on the other students name. I'm sure he/she doesn't want those possible extra charges.

Just find a nice shared house. There are plenty of mini apartments, flats 5mins from uni too, which are about the same in price as uni halls just a bit more modern and luxurious looking.

You won't miss out on anything by not living in halls.

You also have to consider that if you were found living in halls under some one else's name you will both most likely be kicked from your courses.
