Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***Then contact them on Tuesday! The Substitute Choice option is not relevant in your case.(Original post by Muscovite)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***
So basically, I'm having a meltdown because I made a HUGE mistake with my UCAS.
I firmed Cambridge (A*AA) and insured Queen's, Belfast (BBC).
I thought it was what I wanted - and now I realised that I really, really don't want to go to Queen's if I don't get into Cambridge.
Because Cambridge's grades are SO high, I know I need to have an insurance that I really want to go to...and I really want to change my insuranceto Heriot Watt, where I got a BBB offer from.
I firmed about 2/3 weeks ago...is there any chance of changing? Ie, could I ring up Heriot Watt and beg? There are still spaces left according to Extra.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...having a 'mare right now! -

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***I'm afraid you are too late to retrieve your Heriot Watt offer, so your best bet is to do everything you can to get the Cambridge grades, and see what happens on Results Day. If you really don't want QUB you can check out Changing your Mind but I'd leave it for now, if I were you, and see how you feel nearer Results Day. If you still don't fancy QUB then, you can ask them to reject you so that if you don't make your Cambridge offer (and they don't take you anyway) you can go straight into Clearing.(Original post by Catherine.)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***So she has - I have signatures hidden so didn't see that - but I'd be very interested to know how she did it, since "about 2/3 weeks ago" is well outside the cooling off period.
Do tell(Original post by Catherine.)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***Haha, I basically just rang HW, and they said that they'd be happy to change it, since there were places still available, just as long as I got QUB to release me as my Insurance option!(Original post by Minerva)

I did that on Monday, and I got my UCAS changed yesterday
Still wouldn't recommend it...SO stressful! -

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***It must have been - it's very lucky that HW and QUB were both willing to be helpful; if one or other had decided to be difficult you'd have been pretty stuck. Glad it worked out OK in the end!(Original post by Catherine.)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***
I have a question,
I just received a letter confriming my examinations but it's really unclear, it says to put all examinations (it has missed a subject off) but for the subjects it hasn't missed off it has only put it once when I have more than one exam in said subject. Do I need to put all my examinations or all my subjects? Also I did an EPQ and it says to put Extended Projects, but I don't have an exam in it. This letter makes no sense!
Please help!! -

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***Depends what you mean by 'failed'. If you got a G grade or better, technically you have invalidated your application by not declaring it. Whether the uni (a) will find out and (b) will make a fuss about it is another matter. The chances are you'll get away with it.(Original post by shopoholic)
Whats gonna happen if they find out that I didnt mention one of the gcse subjects that i failed? And how can they find out if I did it or not if I didnt mention it in my application in the first place?
If you really did fail it by getting a 'U' grade, then you had nothing to declare so there won't be a problem. -

I did co-ordinated science IGCSE in June 2011 and got a DD. Thats a fail since its not A, b or C.
So will I be taking a huge risk if I don't mention it?
also, I got a B in my maths IGCSE in may 2011 but I thought I could do better so I took it again in November 2011..unfortunately I got a C the second time. Soo should I mention both of them or just the one where I got a B? -

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***It's a fail in the sense that unis and employers often ask for a C or better, but you will receive a certificate for it and therefore it must be declared. Strictly speaking you should also declare both Maths results.(Original post by shopoholic)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***
Hi,
I don't know what to do, my daughter has a conditional firm and unconditional for the insurance choice. She sent the required certificates at the end of June (EU student) and still nothing, wrote e-mails, call - they said you are in process of verification. Friday morning the admission officer from University of Edinburgh told they may be update on Monday the latest, but I am really confused. It is not a normal situation. She fulfilled the conditions and they should confirm the place, what to wait for. She already missed the accomodation for the insurance choice and if they do not confirm the offer by 30/08 will missed and Edinburgh accomodation.
Please advice if she call UCAS is it possible to hurry up the admission office -
Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***Yes, call Ucas. If she met the offer, it's just an admin issue. They are being a bit naughty here. Ucas will help.(Original post by fresherEU)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***Can you tell me what would happen if I didn't mention my science grade and only mentioned one of my maths grades? I really don't want them to think that I'm not capable of getting a good grade in science (I'm taking biology SL in IB NOW) so will that give them the impression that I'm not stupid since I'm still studying one of the sciences?(Original post by Minerva)

Re: UCAS 2012 FAQ ***Look in HERE first***If you get caught out (and there is a reasonable chance of that) then your application can be cancelled - if you've already started the course then you can be expelled for lying or not provding all the information asked for in your application.(Original post by shopoholic)

Also your referee has to sign off that your qualifications section is accurate and complete - so you risk getting your school/college in trouble as well.
Put the grades down on your form. The risks of lying (through omission) are much greater than the risks of telling the truth. -
