Have an unconditional and no money for Cambridge - any advice on scholarships?Hi guys,
I've got an unconditional offer for 2012 at Cambridge University, but being a non-EU student I'm looking at some 30k pounds per year.
Does anyone know of any scholarships available there?
Or any information that might in any way assist me in getting access to funding my degree?
Much obliged for any help. -

Try the Cambridge Overseas Trust- it offers financial aid for overseas students though I'm not too sure whether there are deadlines for that.
Also, if you're from a Commonwealth country, there's the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust.
This link should help. -
Re: Have an unconditional and no money for Cambridge - any advice on scholarships?
When you were given the offer your college would normally have given you the option to apply through them for all the possible awards you can be considered for. You just have to send them the papers they request and they will apply on your behalf. After some time they tell you if you got any award. If you applied last year you should have already gone through this process. That is exactly what I did: I submitted the documents to my college and some weeks later the Cambridge Overseas Trust told me they had given me a scholarship to cover for part of my tuition fees.
I think, however, that it may be different in your case since you are beginning until next year, so your college might want to wait until this year to send your application to the trusts. In any case I think the best is to email them. And if you cannot apply via your college anymore it is always possible to do it on your own.Last edited by HermesTrismegistus; 11-09-2011 at 12:26. -

Re: Have an unconditional and no money for Cambridge - any advice on scholarships?I think they applied last year - I recall seeing the same user having money issues having gotten an offer because there was some sort of mix-up with his status.(Original post by marceltheshell)
How do you have an unconditional offer for 2012 already? Do you have deferred entry? They don't post offers until beginning of January. No exceptions. -

I have a friend in a similar situation and he managed to secure sponsorship from Sri Lanka. -

Re: Have an unconditional and no money for Cambridge - any advice on scholarships?
Ask for deferred entry and work you ass off as worker in the industry (you can earn quite a lot for a student, enough but a lot).
search for exotic scholarships, e.g. for Catholic Indonesian teenie mothers
found you own consultancy
I don't know, but perhaps some Company from your home country?
You said you lived some time in Europe? Any possibility to get "EU citizenship". I know, it would be a bit drastic, but... -

I tried approaching companies in both my home country, Europe and the UK - 0 result.
I can't find any exotic scholarships where I would fit. (I mean one of them was for applicants from my street up to house number 40. My house number was 63, so they refused....
).
And well, working... If I could earn a 100'000 pounds in cash, I doubt I would actually need to go to uni

Re: Have an unconditional and no money for Cambridge - any advice on scholarships? Can you take out a loan?(I am no friend of loans, but if you are desperate to study there.) And I mean, you have to cover your living costs as well, and to cover your living cost by own work is hard, but can be done, e.g. with a year out.(Original post by the_13th)
