Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)They should be, I doubt they standardize the scoring.(Original post by DLZF)
Are the grade boundaries the same for the bmat scores of both sections 1 & 2? -

Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)
Robinson has finally put their 5.5 average cut-off point on their website - admittedly an admission's cycle too late for me :/. Makes it even more confusing why they interviewed me anyway. Still, I didn't do a great job in my second subject interview :P. I was so nervous that I would have struggled to figure out 2+2=4.

Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)I believe that the score you get in s3 is not as important as the scores you get in the first 2 sections. For example, getting >6 in s1 and s2 will compensate if you had a poor score in your s3 but it doesnt work the other way round. Not too sure about Girton, but the heavy-BMAT colleges seem to be Clare, Cauis and Trinity ( I believe). Some rely less on the BMAT some more but they all use it in one form or another (there is no college that doesn't use it to make decisions, so a high score will help). so its best to contact the college directly and can i just ask, why girton? Wouldn't a college closer to the central/new museum's site be more convenient? and good luck(Original post by Lightingspeed)
This thread has been quiet for some time, but I hope any can tell me answer my questions. How does Girton use the BMAT (filter)? What is the minimum do most colleges or Girton want in s3? Which colleges use the BMAT heavily than other factors? Thanks

Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)I think you r just been unlucky, my friend got 5.2 4.9 5a and got pooled then offered. But he does have a very high UMS on as. Either because he got 5a on the essay or the as results. How was your as UMS?(Original post by crimlex)
Very interesting thread, thought I'd contribute.
Yu can use this however you want, but this was the feedback I received from the St John's tutor after being rejected pre-interview because of my BMAT score (6.8, 4.9, 3A)
"The average successful student in Medicine last year had results in the top 20% of section 1 of the BMAT and in the top 10% in section 2 of the BMAT.
The assessors’ selection process looks for high performance in both sections of the BMAT, realistically the top 25%-30% of both sections are invited to interview." -
Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)Hi how was you UMS pls. I need too decide whether to put down Oxford or cam. My chem is a very low a(Original post by Belton42)
My BMAT scores were pretty good (5.2, 5.8, 5A, but wouldn't have been even BB (based on 2010 figures) and I still got an interview so definitely don't give up hope. -
Re: Cambridge Medical Colleges (BMAT use)I've already sent my application and went for Downing. Do you know if they care much about the writing task? I think that will be my weakest section.(Original post by jokosor)
I was starting to give up. Could you be a possible applicant? Well then I will keep updating this page whenever I find out something.
I just went for the college I wanted to go to which could have been a mistake.
