Re: Graduate entry dentistry 2012 - (University of central Lancashire)
Hello guys, this is really long thread so forgive me for just skipping to the back and asking my question...
Uclan is so far the only 4 year course to accept my degree as suitable, (I did natural sciences with maths and biology) so I am particularly keen to get in there. They told me that I would be sitting a multiple choice exam on biomedical topics if I was invited to interview. I didnt find this anywhere on their website though. did you guys have to do this last year? what was it like? is there any way I could revise for it or is it too broad?Last edited by Rob_B; 26-07-2012 at 21:07. Re: Graduate entry dentistry 2012 - (University of central Lancashire)Not sure what you covered in your degree but it was a breeze for me and i did a biomed degree. They give 20-30mins which is ample and dont really hint to much on the website, but if you drop them an email they may give more details. It was essentially human physiology and biology, and possibly chemistry but id say it was A-level eqivalent. Hope the others can shed more light as i dont remember much else!(Original post by Rob_B)

Iv still not heard from UCLan for getting moved to start from 2013 to 2012.
Anyone else here in my sort of position who has also asked to be considered for 2012 entry in preference to 2013 entry like me?
Really want to start this yr!

Hi Sarah, Have you had any interviews before or not from UCLan?
My interview was in December and consisted of an information lecture, tour, 30min multiple choice exam on very basic biomed/human biology topics, and 10 multiple mini interviews lasting 5mins and a dexterity task like wire bending.
Interviews are very varied, testing dexterity, communication, scenario with an actor, interpreting data, news and views on dentistry related articles etc, motivation for dentistry and UCLan, and problem-solving.
But to get to this stage you need a good personal statement and enoguh, varied work experiences too.
Hope this helps

Hi, I have only ever had one interview and that was last year at Plymouth ... So I have a rough idea and from my own research I do know the general questions they would ask. But even at Plymouth they didn ask about any current issues or about anything different. That's why I asked.
Thank you for your reply it does help and for your time
Regards

Re: Graduate entry dentistry 2012 - (University of central Lancashire)
I only applied for uclan so cant really comment if it is like other dental schools, but honestly I quite enjoyed it (I can say that now I'm in
). The mini interviews went so quickly that there wasn't really time to be nervous and there was the chance to talk about any part you think you might have messed up at the end. Very varied as said above...I was thrown in at the deep end with the scenario being first! Quite a shock at first (that actor was good!). The wire bending wasn't too bad and there was no pressure really.
As for the multiple choice paper it wasn't too bad, physiology, biology and plenty of time.
I think advice for personal statement is get as much varied work experience as you can, try and observe everything you can, show an interest, talk to people and try and get all that into your statement. I sent in a second reference too as my academic reference was from a while back and I didn't feel it would sell me enough!
Good luck

I also have an interview on 8th dec at 12.15. Bit confused by the 9 mini interviews, do you reckon it'll be a group of people at each station, or we each do a station separately and swap?
Hi, I've got an interview 5th December 2012 and I was wondering whether you could give me any advice on the interview? What is the depth of the scientific knowledge you'll be asked about in the MCQ test and what sort of questions did you get in the mini interviews? -
