Re: How much are your parents giving you at university? Not a penny. I have a job down there, as well as the loan/grant/bursary.(Original post by InjudiciouslyGreat)
How much are your parents giving you per week at university? -
Re: How much are your parents giving you at university?
I'm not getting a penny either, but they are still letting me stop at home during the holidays, which is more than some people I know. I guess if you think you'll need more than they're giving you (don't know how much that is), talk to them. If that fails, you might have to get a job at uni.

Re: How much are your parents giving you at university?
Wow, that's crazy.
I don't get any bursary or grant but I do take the student loan of around £3600 or so. I get around £500 a month from the parents, living costs, phone bill, rent etc. I pay £485 a month rent once all the bills are out, £30 for phone, £30-£40 a week on food. Travel costs etc as well. It really does all add up, they would rather I focus on getting great grades than working a bar job or something. I am now on a placement year though getting paid so I don't really need much help for this year but I will do again next year!
Of course I do know that this will bring on a ton of criticism but frankly I'm only answering your question honestly. I assume that you are trying to negotiate with the family how much your should get a week and should have all the info. I do understand I am at the other end of the spectrum to the other posters but there are plenty that get given more than I do.
I don't live a particularly student lifestyle to be honest that's why I spend so much. Also Brighton is so expensive. My 1 bed flat is £815 a month before any bills at all! -
Re: How much are your parents giving you at university?Fair enough, but we got told the opposite - take the loan out whether you need it or not as we'll never get such a good deal again.(Original post by Tefhel)
£100 a week. They didn't want me to get a student loan or a job though, so that's why.
I got £100 per month the first year, but nothing any more. I've had various jobs since I was 14, but I still get greeted with an application form every holiday...
