My plan for spending the last two weeks of term working hasn't gone quite, well, to plan
I've barely done anything so far. Really need to start concentrating tomorrow, I'm going to try and get one of the novels finished before I go home on the 19th.

My biggest achievement so far in this dissertation project has been successfully making a dye powder into a liquid dye. I haven't done molality calculations since secondary school. I'm ignoring that fact that we had to make the concentration ten times higher than initially planned because my ability to measure 0.0000X of something is abysmal Fairly sure my single bottle of dye does not a dissertation make, however....

I'm feeling pretty stressed out at the moment! Our dissertation outline is due next week (ridiculously important as our supervisors are only allowed to see two outlines of one A4 page each). It was all going okay. i'd written my plan for my intro and first 2 chapters, including 2 chapters, but my 3rd is nye on impossible...My topic area has VERY little material on it and this 3rd section brings up pretty much no primary material either...I'm starting to worry about hitting the 12,000 word count (damn it all, why did they have to increase it by 2k??!!). i'm going to see if my supervisor can offer me some direction tomorrow, because I have spent the past 2 days searching for material and have come up with next to nothing...

Dissertarion work is going to have to be put off while I re-research and re-write the essay I forgot to back up. Laptop appears to be dead :/ My boyfriend says he might be able to fix it and recover my data, but I don't want to risk leaving the essay til after the weekend, cause it's due Wednesday and there's loads of end of term stuff happening.

At least I was religious about backing up my dissertation stuff. The only thing that's not backed up is one quote I wrote down yesterday, and I can find that again easily.

I put all my diss stuff on dropbox, so even if my laptop and external harddrive both die, I still have a copy. Tis also useful cos it's a shared dropbox with my supervisor, so he can put papers in there for me to read as well as being able to see my work.

I'm normally really good about backing stuff up - as well as being on my laptop, I'll put copies on my memory stick and upload copies onto my uni file space thing. Oh, and if I'm feeling really paranoid, I'll email a copy to my home PC, and to one of my online email addresses.

Totally typical thar the one time I forget it the one time my laptop packs in  Although the lack of laptop should help me get on with some diss reading, since I can't be distracted by dvds I'll just keep a note of page numbers, and type stuff up when I'm at the library

I've done just over 20 pages (a little over 4000 words) on a 50 page limit engineering research project. Most of my class haven't even started their write up. We're being allocated more time next semester to work on our research projects. I've worked hard this semester to get as much done as possible so that I can be a lot more relaxed next semester.

Sent my introduction and first chapter to my supervisor last night. Not particularly long given the length of our dissertation, but finding the time to write it was the main problem! Now just to write the other odd 6,000 words for my essays for this term *sigh*.

Was meant to send 3,500 word of my dissertation to my supervisor on Friday but totally forgot about it and just found out via checking my email now. Probably not too happy with me...oh well only 10k words left to go in the 8 weeks after New Year! Basically just over a thousand a week, putting it that way makes it seem so much easier!

Yes, of course it has! I'd hate to be still at uni now. But this term's essays are due January 17th, so assessment rolls over to the new year.

Ohh I see That makes sense I thought your uni was rather sadistic for a minute there!

Hahaha. They might as well be sadists given the number of essays I have to write and the stress it causes me. Thankfully its not too bad this year as only have 3 to do now the first chapter is out the way, but have written 5 essays in the past for one assessment period which was not fun. I do bring the amount of work I do on myself, so I probably shouldn't complain!

I should also get round to writing a masters personal statement *groan*. That's even worse than the essays. Four years on, and I bet it doesn't get any easier.

Eating food while writing essays helps speed up the process :awesome: (And, um, do some star jumps later or something to balance it out ) I remember last year having about 15 different assessments in one month - was a nightmare  Luckily it won't happen again this year I think...:ninja: I better check before celebrating

Good luck with the Masters apps - 'tis a bit annoying writing the PS but I'm sure you'll be fine as long as your references/grades are strong :yep:
