Re: LDR chat thread VIIIWhich halls? Some are much nicer than others, and I have a sneaking suspicion you're probably in Bluebell.(Original post by Buecherwurm)
I am here for three weeks. Living in halls, quite fancy compared to other places I have lived in! It's a lovely campus, I had no idea it's so big and modern. I might see you on Tuesday then
Haha! If you see a girl in graduation garb with a crutch, give me a wave.
Oui, oui. I only know this because lots of my friends from Warwick who are doing Teach First this year were pretty pleased when they found out it was going to be so close by.(Original post by rainbow drops)
Is that the Teach First summer institute? I know some people there; best of luck with it all! I'm very jealous. I'm working on my own application form for TF 2013 at the moment.
Eating so much junk food tonight
aghhh.

I've had an email asking me to choose semester one modules for my MA. Stuff is getting real! I'm ready to start using my brain again now, I think!

Re: LDR chat thread VIII
Ugh. Last night was horrible. I was having trouble sleeping, as usual, so think I finally drifted off at about 2am, only to be woken up at 3:30 by our idiot neighbours who were having a party. We pretty much never see the same people going into the house, literally tens of different people each time, except for one guy who I assume is the guy who is renting the house, and he looks like he's about 12. We've had problems with them being noisy before, they play really loud music, but we can't even hear the music, we just hear the bass throbbing through our walls, and they like to sing and play guitar at the parties
And rather than sitting in the living room, they seem to sit in the bedroom that our bedroom (and bed) backs on to. Tom's had to go over there before and tell them to keep it down, and they're normally fairly ok after that, but then it always happens again. Oh, and they said "at least you come and tell us, everyone else just complains the next day". Well, if you know you're being too noisy, then why don't you keep it down?! Last night there wasn't music or anything just shouting and laughing constantly, because apparently everything's hilarious when you smoke enough weed that we can smell it from our front garden. They managed to wake Tom up about 15 minutes later, and he was very unimpressed seeing as he started work at 9 this morning. So he went storming round there, the guy was apparently very apologetic, but thought he could "be a bit slack because it's the weekend". Yeah, fair enough, we appreciate you want to have fun but at 4am on a Sunday morning I think it's time to call it a night. Plus, when you live in an old terraced house, you have to make more effort to appreciate that the walls are basically paper thin. I then didn't get back to sleep til about 5am. I hate them. Next time this happens they shall be getting a nice wake up call at 9am in the form of me plugging my amp in next to their bedroom wall and playing them a nice song. I cannot wait to move /rant

Re: LDR chat thread VIIIWell it's time I got comfy on this thread again (seem to have a habit of this now
)
Been dating the gf for 6 weeks now, she lives in the same county as me and used to go the same uni whilst she was intercalating, but she's due to go back to uni in Aberdeen soon so it's about to become LDR
Tis a shame but we're both committed to making this work as it's too good to not try so I thought I'd pop in here and say hi and might chat with you lot.. you probably need the male company in here! -

Welcome back Penguin

I'm having a ridiculously boring night and redoing my CV because I had so much to add from what I've done in the past couple of years. It's so dull
but it has actually made me realise that I have a lot to show for my years at university work experience and extra-currics wise, which is really good! I was supposed to do the competency questions on my Teach First form tonight, but I've spent ages on my CV now and the thought of doing even more work-related stuff tonight makes me want to cry
it's so boriiinggggg.
Quiet thread is quiet. -

Hi, medic! *waves*
Medicine is the reason that my semi long-distance relationship is a lot more stressful than it should be. *grumble grumble*
So with that, my relationship will be twice more stressful as we're both medics?
I assume it's the plentiful contact time that's difficult to get out of that's the problem?
It's good to be back?(Original post by rainbow drops)

Re: LDR chat thread VIIIHaha, maybe. I personally don't know any medics who have lasted with fellow medics - the closest I have is some friends who are a medic and a biological-scientist-cum-wannabe-graduate-entry medic combination. You guys need to buck this trend!(Original post by Penguinsaysquack)

The contact hours aren't so bad, as for the last two years he's been in Birmingham and I've been in Coventry - so we've seen each other lots - but the problem lies in his inability to get through the exams. Hello, second summer (of three) of re sits! -

I can see it causing tension if you're both in the same year and you'd probably end up talking too much about medicine.. so in that case maybe the distance will help, spending all day everyday with the person probably isn't healthy!
Ahh I see.. well so long as he manages the resits.. just can't be a very fun summer for the both of you!
I think you probably do(Original post by *Interrobang*)

It's not exactly a secret anyway that I'm dating yet another mod
She has fun mentioning that I'll develop a reputation for this
