I've started talking to them in English and now they've got their act together I understand exactly whats going on now. I've asked for the landladys email/number and will talk to her and possibly threaten legal action/ reporting her to the gov for illegally renting her flat if she wont give us the money back!
    You go Lizzie!!!

I'm glad you're getting closer to having the money situation sorted :hugs:

Further to my previous posts, I went to the gym today and actually managed to get myself a student membership  there's no expiry date on York cards for some reason, and I managed to get away with saying that I've just finished my second year. I felt a bit bad about it, but gyms are such a rip off as it is, and there's no way that I could have afforded a non-discounted membership. So yeah, I'm pretty pleased with that :smug: I'm going to go tomorrow and get my photo taken (ugh), have my first session, etc.

    Yay!

Super jealous that yours has no expiry date. Although so far, no one
as rejected it, so just to hope that carries on until I get my new card in October.

Note to self - going to the gym DOES NOT mean that I can eat all afternoon. Currently drowning myself in fruit tea in hope thar it'll stop me nibbling...

    I smell a massive rat!
You should tell them to give you her details or you're not paying anything!

Last day of school today! I was stood up in the leaver's service and given a massive bouquet of flowers, so lovely. My class gave me so many lovely cards and presents.
I'm really going to miss them and all the staff I worked with there!

I've kept mine so I can reuse it when I go back Someone I knew lived in York after he graduated and he would regularly come out for student nights even 2 years after he graduated!

    ---

Just had a ****ing scary drive home (to my parents' house). I was overtaking a lorry on a dual carriageway and when I was about 2m behind it (altho obv in the right hand lane), it indicated. I thought it would wait til I went past, but it didn't. I had to drive over the rumble strip in the bit next to the barrier for it to avoid hitting me. After swearing loudly I ended up breaking down in tears and crying the rest of the way home (about 20mins)

There are so many questionable drivers on the roads, especially around where I live.
There are a lot of cyclists who use the main road to the nearest town. There's a particular stretch of road where people speed along really quickly and overtake the cyclists so closely. I can't believe people even consider cycling along there!

I didn't as I just panicked and only could focus on one thing - moving over to avoid the truck

They do have them so I imagine it is something you only know about once you can access internal information. Warwick used to do student caller recruitment once term had begun so perhaps Birmingham is the same.

Unitemps has a Birmingham branch doesn't it? I know when I used to look at unitemps for work everything was always in Birmingham.
I think the give away probably should have been when I looked at the JobZone (logged in on a non-student account) and none of the jobs were more recent than January. :p: Finally discovered, after many phone calls, where to send my transcript so hopefully I'll get my portal soooooon!

What about working on a till in a supermarket or something? They'd probably put a seat at the till in shops that don't usually have them. I'm not sure if all supermarket job would involve stacking shelves, I've never worked in one, but I used to work in Poundland and never had to tidy the shop floor or anything. I just did the till.
Not sure - a lot of places, from what I've heard, do make you do both but, tbh, I don't really know, so that could be an option.

    Grrr.

The boy texted me at 8.45 asking what time I wanted him to come. I replied just after 9 saying as soon as he was ready. Heard nothing from him since then.

I'm doing my best not to get frustrated, but it's hard.

I understand that. Ben's not text me happy birthday yet, despite already texting me this morning :/

    :birthday::yay::hugs:

    Silly boys.

Turns out my text message never got through, so he was sitting there waiting to know what time I wanted him to come  he's on a train now (although just missed one that would have got him there half an hour earlier), so we're going to meet at the tube station near the cinema, and go grab lunch before the film.
