dy/dx = 1 - 0.3 . 2x . (x²-1)

Assuming x is positive how do you differentiate:

y=x-0.6√(x²-1)

I have only done AS level Maths, when is this taught?


I'm quite sure that I did this in AS maths - isn't is P2? Or C2 or whatever they call the dumbed down version these days?

It's in C3, you use the chain rule to differentiate it :smile: ...
