I am indeed. This is one of those frequently asked questions but I will give you my opinion. Of course I have only been here for about three weeks now so I cant speak from long term experience. Personally I feel that the size of St. Andrews has been grossly misrepresented, its really not THAT small, and this comes from a girl who used to live in London! I suppose that it depends on what kind of person you are. There are a fair few bars around town and far from being full of old people sitting around talking about horse racing, they are often brimming with students, dancing and shouting over loud music. People through house parties almost every day from what I have experienced, you just need to know the right people. The halls of residence have hall thrown parties fortnightly I think. But don’t get me wrong, if you LOVE to club then St Andrews isn’t really the place to find your fun. There are clubs in Dundee which is a shortish bus ride away (£5.50 return) or you could go to Edinburgh if you really wanted (about an hour away but then sometimes it can take almost take long to get to Leister Square depending on where you live in London). What I miss most is actually the weekend trips to places; Camden, the London Museums etc.
But it really is beautiful, I would STRONGLY recommend the uni! I’m not taking IR myself but I have LOADS of friends who are (mostly from the USA). It is one of the most popular subjects, one of the hardest to get in to. I hope you consider applying, don’t be too put off by the size- please don’t blame me if you come and hate it though =D Personally I love it!
thanks for the reply yeah i dont like clubbing at all so thats not a problem. i would still miss london though but i think i will apply

It would but I have quite alot of luggage, my parents also want to see St Andrews and buying train tickets for three adults gets very expensive. I will be travelling by train every other time though =)
My parents drove me up in 1st year, but I soon realised it was just easier for everyone for me to get train + send other things via courier.
