I'm gonna study Photography at Salford University, hopefully, in September! Just wondering if there was anyone doing the same? haha

I applied for Nottingham Trent, Manchester Met, Salford, Huddersfield and Blackppol and got rejected by Manchester Met (my second favourite choice :/) so I haven't put down a reserve :frown:

Hi, Sorry for hijacking this thread, but all you peeps with offers, what qualifications have you got/are you taking please? I would love to do photography degree next year but I`m a bit worried I won`t get an offer due to me doing a BTec in Interactive media at the mo. Have most of you done a course in Art?
Thanks:smile:

I did GCSE Art, then for A Levels Photography, History & Economics. I never looked into the other entry requirements, but most of the unis seem more concerned about UCAS points, and given that your qualification is sorta art-ish related you could probably get away with it...

I've come to the realisation that I want to switch to Intermedia at Edinburgh College of Art  Although I'll see how my foundation year there goes...I'm more of a art photographer, and Intermedia is just...like, me in a nutshell. xD

I asked for feedback out of curiosity, and the lecturer questioned my presentation choice (matte prints in a portfolio box), my use of diptychs, and also seemed to think that in one set the light is 'too warm' and asked why that is so (the images were shot during the golden hour right before sunset).

Having interviewed people on behalf of UWE for photography I wouldn't panic too much, they like to grill the crap out of you to see how far they can push your thinking process. If you can explain every aspect of your work including presentation then you are obviously thinking more about your work than others. Out of interest can you remember who interviewed you?

p.s. I do think it is slightly too warm but not horrifically so, they were probably over thinking it

Thank you! What are you doing your btec in? A mixture of studio shoots, film work, nature shots to show different skills in different areas. The uni will tell you how many pieces they want to see in the folio, i think they asked me for 15

Btec in Art& Design (interactive media), I`m just worried my photography may not be up to the standard they are looking for! I like my shots but not sure what skills they will be looking for

Hi everyone!
I know it's early, but I thought I'd start a new thread for those of us applying to do Photography at Uni in 2012, as the 2011 one looked really useful for discussing applications, choices, portfolios, interviews etc.!

I'm Laura and I've just finished my A levels in Photography, Graphic Design and Psychology. I've just began my art and design foundation class and I want to do a BA photography course in 2012.

I'm undecided about which Unis, I've only chose Nottingham Trent so far.

So, who else is applying for photography 2012?
What are you doing at the moment?
Where are you thinking of applying?
etc..

Hello! My name is Eliel and I am UCA representative and also a current student there. I have been doing photography for 2 years now.

I read that some of you are looking for Photography courses. At UCA we currently run two Photography courses based in our Farnham and Rochester campuses. I don't know if you have heard of UCA before. The University for the Creative Arts is one of the leading providers of specialist art and design education in Europe. We are a diverse community of about 7,000 students from more than 70 countries and are based around five campuses in Surrey and Kent.

For those of you who have already applied to UCA all the best with your interviews and hope you decide to accept and join the UCA family !!

I am doing my Photography degree at Farnham and it is great. I don't know what type of Photography you guys are into but UCA has a big focus on developing you as an artist by giving you a right balance between theoretical and practical units. The facilities at Farnham are industry standard in both analog and digital. If any of you want to know more about the course structure or facilities just let me know and will try and help you with what I know. You can also find out more in our website:

- UCA Farnham BA (Hons) Photography: http://www.ucreative.ac.uk/ba-photography-farnham

- UCA Rochester BA (Hons) Photography (Contemporary practice): http://www.ucreative.ac.uk/ba-photography-rochester

As I said before, If any of you have any questions rewarding the course or student life at UCA don't hesitate to ask. You can contact me both trough the quoting option or by private message.

Hope the information was useful.

Eliel.
