Bignic12,
How did you hear that you're on 'hold'?
(Sorry if you have to repeat, but this is a massively long thread to read)

I rang them as I had a sorry we haven't forgotten you, email and asked them what was going on and Sara told me I was currently being held as decisions had yet to be made!! A few others who phoned were told the same thing!

EG....we are both special this year then?! the big 50!!!!!!! bring it on eh?!

And me! I'll be 50 at the beginning of August, right in the middle of the Olympics, which seems so perfect as I've loved sport and the Olympics all my life, and it's also why I'd love to be part of it in this way as I'm too old for competing in the three day eventing and all the other things I dreamt about as a child!

Hiya, I was in the same recall audition as you ("Butterfly", right?) and I also still haven't heard. So frustrating.

Here's my little conspiracy theory: I fear that we were being cast for a non-performing role and that they wait with our decision until they have decided on all the performers. Maybe they consider those who get a "no" for performing for our roles as well???

Anyone else here from the recall on the 25th of Nov?

Hi yes, you are correct, LuaraN1, at the same 'odd' audition, in that what would that be for? Other than can we speak clearly, I do recall the main guy saying at the end of the audition (that was over so quick) that they were also checking if we could step correctly (did any of you others recall this???) I just felt I only got a 2 second moment to prove myself :-(

For the age & height list ;-) I’m also late forties, slightly more than average weight & 5'11"

[QUOTE="tylergardener;36172939"]Hi all, Thanks for your support and commiserations.

I did as suggested and eventualy got through to casting on the phone.

Managed to persuade them that I had done everthing correctly and have been reinstated !

Can't tell you how relieved I am, I'd buy everyone of you a drink right now, even you rocKeRG LOL.[/QUOTE

just got in and delighted for you
Fantastic news on TG being reinstated!

Just thought I'd chip in based on TG's experience and for all the Reserves and Waiting to Hears that eventually get THE email for the Opening / Closing or both Ceremonies (I'm saying "eventually" because as mentioned several times on this thread, there WILL be spaces opening up). I'd advise the following:-

1. In the body of the Cast Offer email will say "Click here to accept offer". It is important that you click on this link as this notifies them that you have read the email and accepted / declined the Cast Offer. You will then get another screen where it gives you this option. If you're unsure whether you've done this, go back into the email and click on the link. If you've done it, it would say on the next screen : "Our records show that you have already responded. Any queries please contact your Cast Co-Ordinator." Those of you who've already been given a Cast Offer it's best to double check (even triple check) that you have already done this - yes I know that the deadline has passed for some of us, but if you didn't click on the link you MAY still have a chance of sneaking into the "Acceptance" list. Don't quote me on this though.

2. Print off the attachments, sign where indicated and scan them into pdf format, then email them directly to your Cast Co-Ordinator(s) email address (in the body of the email, not the "DoNotReply" email address) with a covering email explaining that a hard copy is in the post and that you appreciate if they could acknowledge receipt of the paperwork.

3. Post the hard copies BY RECORDED DELIVERY (or Registered post if you don't mind paying the extra postage) to the address supplied in the email. (I sent my first class recorded). Track the delivery online the next day. It should say that it was delivered. This is also additional evidence that you did indeed sent your documentation over to them.

4. If no response in a couple of days, send a "chaser" email direct to your Cast Co-Ordinator(s) along the lines of "Please accept my apologies for troubling you....etc, etc...but I am getting rather worried that my paperwork may have gone astray and do not want to run the risk of not be included in the Casting due to this...blah, blah" (Basically, I sent a rather grovelly email to them.) You should get a response in a couple of days, if not , send a further chaser email to them. You need to make a complete nuisance of yourself because it is your application and you don't want to risk it being overlooked.

5. Telephone the Ceremonies Team (their telephone number was posted a few threads above this one). Even if the paperwork is still being processed, they should be able to tell you whether they've received an Acceptance (via the email) from you or not. As this is the crucial bit, even if the post is late, they should receive the emailed version as a backup.

In the meantime, I'm sure there will be some who were given Cast Offers who probably overlooked the email and I agree with a comment earlier that in the midst of excitement it could VERY EASILY be overlooked (the "Click here....." bit is smack bang in the middle of the email and you have to be more or less eagle eyed to spot it. I clicked it about 4 or 5 times just to make sure that my acceptance definitely went through.

I hope this helps and once again to those who already "accepted" their offer please double check your Cast Offer email to see if you've definitely clicked on the link.

Maybe we're part of an experiment about how long you can test someone's patience?

So do we pass or fail based on how crazy we all feel about this?!

Today I was thinking about our recall date (25th) and given the 8 weeks after deadline they are actually only a week and a half overdue. It feels like a lot longer than that though given all the false deadlines and the fact that so many have heard already. flakeydom IIRC ours was one of the last auditions right?
Bizarrely it seems that many of the people with later auditions heard fairly early on. For example my recall was 2nd December and I had my offer on 16th January i.e. just over 6 weeks whereas a friend with a recall on 18th November only heard on 26th January i.e. nearly 10 weeks.
Um... second auditions seemed to start on 15 Nov and go through to 3 December so you're just over halfway. But you are, by far, the biggest group waiting to hear. The rest of the dates just have ones and twos waiting to hear.

Ooooh - another way to cut the data in the big spreadsheet!

OK... so where I've got two dates (2nd audition and date of result) the minimum wait was 43 days (1 Dec to 13 Jan) and the longest wait (so far) was 73 days (19 Nov to 31 Jan). The average is 57.75 days.

Well done Tylergardener - persistence pays off. Have just read through in 2 mins what must have been a day of agony for you. Congratulations - sure none of reserves would want to pick up a place from someone who loses one like that. Lets hope there aren't any others.
Hope all the responses you got from here helped you keep going with it - this forum is a lifeline!
Will make sure I sprinkle a very hefty load of fairy dust tomorrow.
Night all

Has anyone else received this offer?

'You have been selected to perform in the Opening Ceremony as part of the 51-PLB cast group.

Role Outline: Key profile role in the escorting and leading of athletes in both Opening & Closing Ceremonies.' ??

Which recall audition did you attend?

I'm waiting to hear still! I auditioned in the evening on the 30th November but I can't see many people on here who were there. Is there any time scale for us knowing? It's killing me as other people find out and I've got no idea when we'll be told...

Hi BelleRLH, Fyrecracker and I also auditioned on eve of Wed 30th Nov. We were both in the middle group (there were 5 groups in the studio). We're both still waiting, so feel your anxiousness, although it's mildly reassuring that none of us have heard yet. Good luck

Out of the 9 people on here who were at 25 Nov audition, we've only got 1 reserve result and nothing else. There's definitely a good chance that they have something in particular in mind for you all.

Hm, there was a post by sausageandmash who also attended the recall on the 25th and she (he?) posted that she received an offer for a character / movement role for opening sequence on the 16th Jan. That completely throws all of my theories. Ahhhhh!!!

By the way, having just read old posts is really heartbreaking. There are all the posts from the 19th/20th and everyone hoping that this finally is THE day. And here we are - two weeks later and still no news.

I'm really glad I came across you all. My husband just doesn't understand my compulsive email checking etc. It's good to have found likeminded people!!!
And now I'm really off to bed - after another final email check!

Hello BelleRLH, I have been reading these posts for the last few days and felt the same as you. Having seen your posting I felt compelled to respond. I too auditioned on 30th Nov. The only notification I have received is the email 'Don't worry...be happy...etc ha ha' but only the one on 19th Jan. since then nada! Again reassuring to know we seem all to be in the same boat...good news absolutely for those who have heard. Hope we hear soon too!x

We'll buy each other drinks. Section 44D. How about you?

Section 51 B; "Movement/marshalling (whatever that means!) and a proportion of drumming skills in one ceremony"

For the spreadsheet recorders out there, 2nd audition on the 3rd December (At the time we were told it was the very last first phase audition, although I've heard that there were subsequently some later in December), and offer on 16th Jan. Accepted same day with confirmation from them on the 18th. Hideously smooth ride compared to some of you, but I'm sticking around and rooting for you all.

Oooh - well spotted. I must have missed that while updating the spreadsheet. Now corrected - we have one reserve and one opening from that date but still also the biggest % of 'Not Heards'

And yes... welcome to the madhouse! I feel sometimes this thread might be a little like Auditionee Anonymous with the goal to step away from the email!

BelleRLH - I've got 5 posters who said they auditioned on 30 Nov. One is in the closing ceremony and the other 4 (including you) are waiting to hear after they all had a 'Don't Worry' mail on 19 Jan.

Altogether, we've got 143 people who've posted on this thread about a second audition and 41 who are still waiting to hear or haven't posted to tell us a result.
